Chapter 3 teaser, subject to changes during the beta process…
Fuck my life! I have been here in a hospital room all night, on a heart monitor.  They made me turn off my cell phone.  I was in so much stress; I should have had them call Emmett last night.  I am sure that I am in hot water with them all, for not showing up.  I am waiting for the doctor to come in with my test results.  It felt that I was having a heart attack, or something.  I really hope that was not the case, I mean come on I am only twenty-eight.  I am an overall healthy man.  I exercise and don’t eat a lot of fattening foods.  I mean people my age don’t have heart attacks, do they?

“Good morning Mr. Masen, I am Doctor Hall,” he says holding out his hand for me.

“Good morning,” I say shaking his hand.

“Well I read over your case notes from last night and this morning, how are you feeling now?” his face is giving nothing away.

“I feel a lot better than I did last night, everything has returned to normal.”

He nods his head writing notes on my file in his hands.  “How long have you been getting suffering from heartburn?”  He looks at me questioningly.

“On and off for the past three four months,” I say letting out a breath before talking again, cutting off Dr. Hall.  “Look I don’t mean to be rude, but what happened to me last night?  Did I have a heart attack?  That is how it felt, can’t you just tell me?  I mean really let me know what was happening, and then I will answer all your questions?”

He put down my file and stops writing his notes, as he sits back in his chair.  “I am sorry Mr. Masen I tend to get ahead of myself.  Last night you suffered a rather harsh panic attack,” he says. 

All I am thinking is this guy is off his rocker.  I mean really where did he get his medical degree, Mickey Mouse Club House, or the bubble gum machine?

This story is not always easy to write, just as parts are not easy to read.  Edward does not know yet of course, but it is very true Isabella cannot read nor write.  She has never attended school.  Bella was never allowed to be a child, or experience a normal childhood, in any way, shape, or form.  Bella has nothing more than a glorified slave all of her life since her birth mother passed away.  We don’t want to give away more of her story than that, but feel free to keep asking your questions and we will continue to answer what we can.  Edward does have a long road yet to travel, and part of that is to get him-self healed enough so that he can love someone and trust someone.  Edward’s view is very tainted and with great reason, there is much more to learn about him.  He will continue to improve, but he will have his moments.  Keep in mind as of right now, Isabella has not lied to him, but she has withheld very important information.  She doesn’t correct him on her age, because she fears his reaction.

Here is the teaser for chapter 7…Subject to change during BETA process as always.

I have written out everything, when I look at my watch seeing that it’s ten after ten.  I know that being on time is something she is normally good at.  I rub my face, fuck maybe she changed her mind about the job, or she just lied to me just like every other fucking woman I’ve ever known.

Or maybe you scared her, and she said yes to the job thinking that you wouldn’t let her leave the room unless she agreed.

Knock. Knock.

Thank god, she is here finally.  “Come in Isabella,” I say to the closed door.  The door opens, but it’s Taylor who is standing there. 

I frown at him.  “Hello, I see you beat me here,” he says smiling at me.  I wave at him to come in, but I am still frowning.  “I take it I am not who you’re waiting for?”

I shake my head.  “I was expecting someone, but I don’t think she is coming.”  I sigh, and throw my pen on the desk.

“Small pale girl, brown hair, looks a little lost?” I look at him, and nod my head.  “I think she is standing outside,” he says motioning his thumb toward the door.  I move toward the door, and Taylor stops me.  “Here, take this; it’s really coming down out there.”  He offers me his umbrella and chuckles as I take it and head out of the office.

I head to the front, and see Isabella standing outside in front of the window in the rain.  I open the door.  “Isabella,” I call to her standing in the door way, she turns and looks at me. I wave at her to come in.  “How long have you been standing outside, and why didn’t you come in the restaurant when you got here?”

She walks up to me, clearly worrying I am mad by the look on her face.  “I thought that…you said to meet you outside.  Didn’t you, never mind, I am so sorry…sorry.”

Looking at her, I see that she’s drenched to the skin.  The jacket she is wearing is paper thin, and clearly very old and well used.  I know that she been outside a long time.  I close my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose.  “I am sorry I meant for you to come in, if I was not out here.”  She walks through the door; I know that she needs to get out of her wet clothes.

I'm taking the fact that they're pissing you off as a compliment - lol.  I'm assuming I've brought the characters to life for you - thanks for reviewing

I've always felt that her desire to be changed in the original was a little off.  I guess kids always think they know more than their parents, and will do things differently.  But being a child of divorce should have made her conscioius that relationships don't always last forever.  Being changed meant that she would give up everything and everyone she knew, including her parents.  That's a lot to hang on one man and the beauty she fell in love with.  In my story, she's got someone worth holding onto, and a reason to stay alive.  

Religion and vampires... To me, only Anne Rice does it well, but sometimes the exclusively Catholic way she spins it turns me off.  It may be a blasphemy to compare vampiric traits to Jesus, but sometimes I can't resist.  I'm wondering why more vampires in fiction don't pull out their Bibles to confront haters.  But all that aside, when you take characters that are over a hundred years old, you've almost got to add religion into their make up.  Like it or not, it was a big part of life in the past, even if you don't go back to the times of theocracies.  In the original, Edward believed he was a soulless monster, and changing Bella would condemn her soul as well.  His beliefs were based on religion, and so I had to use religion to change him.  I'd imagine that Edward and the other Cullens (except for Alice) went to church, at least on holidays, and Carlisle was a preacher's son.  Religion was a part of their lives.   

Bella and I both agree with you.  This Edward has had 25 years to regret and miss her.  He's not afraid to take chances.  But he's not helping her sanity any with his pursuit.  I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and I do appreciate your reviews.  

At this point, Bella is sincere about wanting to put a stop to what's happening with Edward.  She knows he's different, but he's not only a kid, but her student.  She's hoping for a little back-up from Denise -- sort of like an alcoholic and their sponsor.  

Thanks again.  I do have the answers to your questions in future chapters.  Even with his family, I always saw Edward as very lonely -- always being the odd man out.  I'm not sure what would be worse, being alone, or being alone in a group, especially when you can hear every thought, every loving memory, and even their pity.  

Yep. It's hard to watch her fight so hard to ignore it, when we all know what's up.  

I think he needed to see that even if the truth comes out, he can't back off and leave it all up to her.  He's got to decide to be all in or not.  She needs honesty, and no games.  He can't walk the line between truth and evasion.  

Just a little bit of a lime.  Originally I slipped that one in under a T rating, but that's before the prudes found the story.  

I never did understand why they call love scenes "lemons."  Although I've seen some that can put a sour look on my face--I've written some that were even worse.  Glad to know I didn't go sour here.   

Chapter titles can be a pain sometimes.  Giving them titles has made me better at story titles, but trying to indicate where it falls in the story, without giving spoilers is tough.  Thanks again for the R&R!

Thank you very much for your review. Sorry its been so long. I haven't been keeping in the best of health these past few months, but I am starting to get back on my feet now and feeling somewhat normal.
