I can't imagine living in a place that would be so judgemental about who people choose to love, but then again I've never lived in a town so small that people would really behave that way. I think that if there is a chance that they will be given a hard time then maybe they should just move - for all the reasons Edward stated at the dinner table. It might be good for all of them to get out of such a horrid place and start over. A larger, more open minded city would be a much better place to begin their new lives together.
