Carlisle married Esme because he knew he needed a wife and family for his image as a doctor and he couldn't have Renee. He never loved her the way E/J/E love R/A/B. Carlisle isn't capable of love.

Edward said he won the humiliating task contest, but do we ever find out what task he thought of? Or did he do it by humiliating Esme in front of the family at dinner?
Also, if you're not planning on doing C&E's story, can you maybe do some oneshots to give us more backstory?

No, Esme carries some physical scars from her abuse as well. Go back and read the chapter from Esme's pov. He beat her severely for helping Renee escape with Bella.

So normally I'm one of those annoying people who only posts "when will you update?". I figured since I basically followed you from the beginning, I should post a REAL review.
I love everything you created in this story, but the saddest part by far is anything with Esme. It's horrible how her husband and sons take everything out on her just because they can. I doubt Carlisle woul have beaten her so badly if he wasn't in love with Renee and didn't blame her leaving on Esme. Also when Edward blamed his father's disaproval on her and actually physically took it out on his mother.
I have to wonder though, if over the years Carlisle just "put up" with her, or if he was actually pleased with her as his wife?

In the chapter where you see Carlisle's insanity actually come out he says he tried to be happy with Esme, but she couldn't replace Renee. He never loved her.

I'm glad you like it. Yes, I'm still publishing TPW, but it is coming out a little later. Blind Faith is all original and being published first. TPW should be ready by first of next year.
For those of you who read "The Perfect Wife" this takes place twelve years after the epilogue. You do not need to read TPW, but an understanding of the story is helpful.
Carlisle ran a human trafficking ring. He was an abusive husband and father. Esme suffered cruel and horrific atrocities at her husband’s hand. Her sons, Emmett, Jasper and Edward were raised to treat her no better than a slave; undeserving of love and respect. Rosalie, Alice and Bella are brought into this life as their wives and together these women fight to change their outlook on life and women. At the end of TPW, Em/J/E have learned to change and passionately love and respect their wives. Carlisle is finally killed when he attempts to hurt Bella, freeing Esme from a lifetime of abuse. His will stated he wanted to be cremated so his ashes would remain with his family, forever a symbol of his power over his family. Esme refuses to let him control her life any longer and takes his urn from the house returning empty-handed hours later. TPW was Bella and Edward’s story. This is Esme’s story.
