the s in bdsm actually stands for sadism not submission

Author's Response:

That's what I always thought, but in researching this, I found that it can have both meanings.

Quote from, A Submissive's Journey : "It can mean bondage and discipline (B&D), dominance and submission (D/s), or sadomasochism (S&M) There are more definitions for each of those words than Baskin-Robbins has flavors. In fact, there are as many meanings as there are people trying to tell you what it all means."

According to Wikipedia: "The term BDSM was coined as a condensed acronym in the 1990s to combine communities and practices that had a significant amount of crossover - bondage and discipline (B&D or B/D), dominance and submission (D&S or D/s), and sadomasochism or sadism and masochism (S&M or S/M)."

Since E.L. James had referred to it as Submission in her books, that's what I went with.
