Carlisle is not really bitter, he is concerned for the slaves, which is why he doesn't want to leave the castle. Edward is going through an existential crisis, and Emmett is very happy with his life. But all of this is going to change pretty soon.

This was a chapter with plenty of information. Bella is still having a tough time accepting all that she has learned so far. For her it seems just unbelievable that there are men with such power, who go doing their will with no punishment or consequence whatsoever.
Rosalie is aware of their situation, but apparently Alice isn't. What might happen now? Who of these two will be next in meeting Edward?

This story still remains a canon pairings, so even if I tell you that Alice will meet Edward at some point, it's certainly not for the purpose of satisfying his sexual needs with her, that much I can say ;-)

It seems plans are not coming as expected. Bella was there to witness the punishment, but she interrupted it. Edward wanted to make her suffer, but he was forced to change tactics. However the tactics chosen weren't too successful, since Bella reacted rather well to Edward's ministrations. It seems the air is affecting more than just Bella right now.

Poor Edward, everything he does turns against him. I wonder how he thought Bella was going to react to his punishment. Well, it's clear he didn't react the way he was supposed to. Like he said, he should have known better than to play with fire...

Yes, we'll see more of Carlisle later on. I'm so far ahead in my French version... What's interesting in doing a translation is that I get te revisit the characters and I know them better so I can add a few things to make them even more 'consistent'.

Bella has a strong character, she doesn't like being said what to do or how to act. Having so little control over her body's reactions. She realizes she can't control that, but that doesn't mean she won't do anything about it. She will try to get at Edward another way.
Seeing Esme was a great treat, and being guided into the right direction to see Carlisle was also good. Carlisle turned out to be a good person, he didn't react exactly as she expected, but it wasn't bad. She got some useful and enlightening information. The thing will be what to do with it.

No one was expecting Aro summoning Bella and Alice. He didn't let Edward know apparently, he was more than surprised. And he will be even more once he learns what happened with the lords of Volterra.
Alice and Bella were witness to their "activities" and of course, were shocked to say the least. Bella's braveness... her intentions were good, but I'm not sure she won't get to pay for them, maybe even Alice too.

The Volturi don't know it yet, but they started something very big by summoning Bella and Alice in their chamber. If they had been patient and wait till the girls were 'ready', none of what's coming next would happen. But then there would be no story to tell...

It has been hard to feel worried for Edward, he hasn't been the nicest guy. Not because he has chosen to, but because he is so confused and lost. Sadly things are going to go worse now, for everyone. What Bella did was brave, but as Carlisle said, it will bring consequences, grave ones it seems. And Edward will be party responsible and punished at the same time. He won't like what he will be made to do. And if it isn't him, the option seems much worse...
It is a big mess, at least Alice is safe, for a while at least.

Carlisle was right. Aro wanted to punish severely both of them. He was very clever in the way he handled it, cornering Edward. Aro made sure Edward would feel hopeless during Bella's punishment. Thankfully Edward is good at his job and was able to stay as focused as possible so he could stop Aro. I can't say he stopped him on time. He really hurt her badly. Edward was right, control is needed and Aro has none.
Poor Bella, lets hope she remembers what Edward said to her and accepts his assistance and him taking care of her.
Yes, this chapter was a the turning point.

Edward does enjoy his job, there's no question about it. There are certain things he has to have restrained from in the past. But now... he was able to do something he rarely does. Sadly for him, it wasn't as good as he had hoped. Bella's words shocked and surprised him.
She is waking up... what will happen now?

I don't think Edward regrets what he did even if Bella isn't aware he's the one responsible for her awakening. Yes, he's angry that she said the name of Jacob instead of his name, but still he did enjoy the taste of her all the same. In the next chapter, we will see what happens from Bella's perspective and why she screamed Jacob's name when she climaxed.

It is amazing how quickly both have fallen for each other, while trying so desperately to hate each other. There is truly one step between love and hate. And still, they want to ignore and deny it, at least to each other. Add to it how hard they are trying to convince the other, it's amazing how they say what they do, while thinking entirely different things.
What they have, what they hope to have and what will probably happen are so different things, it's crazy and sadly there seems to be no way out for either of them.
They are clinging to what ever they can, and pretending to really not care, I hope it slips out of both or at least one. Sadly that might have to wait, Jasper has awaken, but it seems it doesn't look too good.

I don't think Edward never hated Bella, though, even if Bella did indeed loathe him. Also, one of my readers commented on the fact that too many things happen in too little time in my story, but the fact is that my story is not intended to be realistic, and if I had the action take place in one or two months instead of only one week or so like the reader suggested, the Volturi would have had plenty of time to abuse Bella and Alice, if not Rosalie (Rosalie is a tougher cookie), not to mention that it's because everything happens fast in the story that we never get bored (at least I think what I write is not boring, lol). Now, it's also true that Edward and Bella are not exactly on the same page, but close enough actually. Bella is really madly in love with Edward and so is he, but she needs a more concrete confirmation about Edward's deep feelings, and she will get it in the coming chapters, otherwise what hope would there be for those two?

Edward did things perfectly with Bella's father. He didn't lie, but hendidn'y go into too many details. Things are looking so much better for them now. Which is sign that the story is close to its end. :(

Jasper's life hasn't been pleasant, he wishes he would have been anywhere but next to his father. He wants Jasper to take his place one day, while Jasper wishes for anything else. He has seen too much for his age, there's no way it wouldn't affect him. He grows up to be cruel, it's the only thing he has seen in his life. We have to feel sad for him, at least I do.

I agree Bella's thoughts aren't entirely realistic. Lets not forget Edward gave her the drink which probably was very strong. His intention surely was to help her rest better, not this. So it might be the drink is also making her think oddly.
They both have somehownconfessed their attraction for one another. Bella isn't as happy as she would want to be though, she is well aware of their situation. Edward however feels more confident and sure that they can change their situation.
Lets hope someone has heard Bella's cries and goes check what's happening, and soon!!!!!

I think at first she wanted to use him, but now she really has a thing for him and besides, the circumstances will decide for all of these characters what they will need to do next. Rosalie will have a huge part to play, but don't worry, after the next chapter there will be a long trail of chapters about Edward and Bella and their unfinished business.

Rosalie has lead a very different life from Bella and Alice, there's no doubt there. She enjoys her life and is the one better prepared for the place they are all in. She thinks the other two aren't, so she worries about her and is trying to protect them. Something not too easily done. Is her decision to not inform Bella a good one? Shouldn't Bella and Alice have at least an idea of what might happen, what is expected of them?
Rosalie has Edward in good opinion, so far she thinks he is on the slaves side. But now she is having her doubts, lets hope they are cleared soon.
I admire you a lot, you are both writing and translating a story. That takes twice the time, so that means that we might have to wait twice as long. Sadly with a story as good as this one, that isn't always easy. We get anxious and nervous waiting for the next chapter. And yes, fretting that it won't be finished. Thanks for the assurance that it won't happen with this story. We'll just need to be a bit more patient.

I have a very easy way to proceed: one week I work on the translation (one chapter in French becomes two chapters in English most of the time) and one week I write from scratch. So I send 2 chapters to my beta every other week, but the thing is, she may also take 2 weeks to edit one of the two chapters I send her, so even if I sent her chapters 27 and 28 two weeks ago, it may take another 2 weeks for her to edit chapter 28, and by then I will have sent her chapter 29. No matter what, I always send her my chapters every other week, and I'm always waiting for them to come back to me with the corrections. My beta is a very busy person, whereas all I do when I'm home is writing, cooking, reading... and do the taxi for my kids. My French readers never have to wait more than 2 weeks for an update because I don't need a beta in French and I can post my chapters as soon I'm done writing them.
It also has to be said that this story is one of the most popular on the French fandom, whereas in the English fandom it's lost in a sea of other good stories and not a lot of people know about it and rec it, sadly. The bottom line is that since it's almost finished in French, there would be no reason for me to stop the translation, even if I don't get as many reviews in English. After all, I aim to please my readers, whether they speak French or English :-)

This has been really helpful, yes we do miss E&B but we needed to hear from Carlisle and the rest. Things are not any fine, they might be about to get better, if they all find a way to talk calmly. If it's possible to settle certain things, perhaps they might be able to find a way to not only escape but get rid of the Volturi.

Thankfully Rosalie knows plenty about Alice's past. She will be able to fill some gaps. And Bella has certain knowledge too, that has to be also extremely helpful.
I am very glad that Jasper came back with a conscience and will to help Edward get rid of the Volturi. But for Edward to believe it so easily, he is a wishful thinker and/or cares deeply for his friend and yes, he wants badly to get rid of the bad guys.
Then we have Bella, just as Edward I am kind of shock with how quickly she is recuperating from her last ordeal, even if nothing happened. She is bouncing back quickly. Of course having Edward there to care for her has to be huge help. ;)

I like that comment about wishful thinking from Edward. Admittedly, people in this story must believe strongly in what they do because in the reality there are a lot of "what if" and they don't seem to worry at all about it.

Nope, didn't see that, but if we think about it, it's not so crazy. If Tanya has found out about Bella and Edward, she is going to feel more than unhappy, so she would try something crazy. Rosalie said "tried" that means, she didn't succeed, right? Will this change the plans? It might at least put them on hold for a bit, until they find out what happened.
As for Bella's dream, with how much tea she drank, it's understandable she was in such state for so long and had such a peculiar dream. Did she say anything? What did Edward and Carlisle think if she did?
So many questions.... We'll be waiting... :)

We don't really know if Bella spoke during her dream, but I'd think it is unlikely since Carlisle said she was in a coma-like state. As for Tanya, she only tried to kill herself, but she didn't succeed. Whether it will change the plan or not is something we'll see in the next chapter.

Tanya chose a not very well thought or mature path. If she thought it might have got her Edward back, it backfired. All the girls are't too happy with Bella and Rose but they did agree to listen to them. Freedom is something they all wish so if there's a way to obtain it, they will look pass their grudges.

Tanya is working extra time to make us all hate and yes, want to kill her, since she survived the venom she took. She is determined to get Edward, sadly she has no chance, even with this last atempt. I'm worried, if they are near the stairs, Edward might trip and they could fall. If Edward got hurt that wouldn't be good for the plan.
Rosalie was kind of excited for what she might get to inflict on the Volturi, I can't wait to find out what that might be.

It demanded me a lot of work translating it, but less so when I was just writing it, as I am a very blessed author who never suffers from the writer's block. I would just sit in front of my computer and type what was on my mind. I had the storyline for all the chapters so it was easy. But still, it took me 13 months to write the story and 26 months to translate it, so I guess I have a lot of patience and perseverance. That said, I am pleased that you ackowledge all the work I invested in that story, because it is truly colossal in terms of hours devoted to it. I'm not afraid to say that if the reviews we get were matching the time spent working on a story, I would have had much much more, but it is not the way it works and I have to accept it. I hope I will hear from you again and I think I will, at least on my story Collisions, which is far from over :0)

Bella decided to follow her friends advice, to drink and party. Then when she thought she saw the person she never wanted to see again, she kept on drinking, to make the hallucination go away. That's the thing when you have little or no experience, no clue what the consequences will be.
As for Edward, it turns out he loves her??? They why torture her all through high-school? I can't wait to hear what he has to say about that.

As for what Alice did, I have to agree with Edward, I would want to kill her too. Not that he isn't grateful.

Is Bella being too easy with Edward? I don't think so, they both got married, she had to agree to it at some point. Yes she was drunk, but there are things going through her mind now she can't explain. And for what we get, she doesn't have too many other options to consider.

The wedding went fine, Bella wasn't as happy as she could have been, and in a way it's understandable. She is trying and so is Edward. There are changes that people around them have begun noticing, is this good? I hope so.

It was a tough one to read, even not knowing what was wrong with Emily yet. Her death really affected Bella, it still does, and in a very bad way. She loved her friend deeply and misses her a lot.
Edward was amazing in this chapter, his love for Bella was proven. To be right there next to her, scared and not knowing what is going on. That's commitment and love.

It was good that she let know she is now Cullen and not Swan.

Meeting Charlie went better than either one expected, he was shocked and surprised, but he is seeing things in Bella he hadn't in a long time. A father always wants his kids to be happy and what ever makes them happy and keeps them safe is good for them.
As for Edward "ignoring" Bella while watching TV, just as you said, he is good but not prefect ;)

Edward got scared, watching Bella standing there and after how she was, it's understandable he would be worried. But Bella isn't that kind of girl. She needed closure, for a long, long time, she hadn't dared go there. Thanks to Edward she did.
The worst thing for Bella was not saying good-bye to her friend. When you loose someone, that's the worst of all.
As for their kissing, things are changing between them. Edward has known he loves her, she has just began having feelings for him, feelings she still can't describe or understand. He knows it and will give her as much time as she needs.
I guess now things will go better and easier.

Bella misunderstood things and made a huge scene before listening to Edward. She is still scared, insecure, thinking he might leave her. Not that this makes her conduct acceptable but at least understandable. Work is work, so Edward and Emmett need to go, it will just be for two weeks. They will miss each other, but time will fly faster than they will think in will.
Staying with Rose is a good idea, they can keep each other company and help with the nursery.
Also, very important, she said it!!!!! He might not have heard it, which is bad, but she said I love you.

He did hear her say it, and then... neither are talking about it, and by not doing so, they are just hurting inside. I understand that Bella doesn't want to say it over the phone, but perhaps one or the other could have hinted something about it. Now it has been some time after it, could they still say something about it?
Bella overcame a huge fear, she is proud of herself. It was a lot to take and she did really well. Lets hope the next step she takes right besides Edward.
Usually when trips are written into a story it's hard to really give the impression of how long it feels to the characters. Here you've done an amazing job at making us feel as desperate as Bella and Edward. It has only been half of the time!!!!!

It was really good. Bella pinching herself thinking it was a dream. And just as she promised, the first thing she told him was "I love you". Edward's reaction was priceless, he couldn't believe it. She really made him happy and glad to have come home earlier.
Then the Aunt Flow comment, and Edward having no clue, that was adorable too.
Bella is so much more confident in this chapter, I loved it, lets hope she can keep up with herself.

It was a really nice date, it probably didn't finish as Edward had planned, but that doesn't mean it ended badly. Bella has thought about what is going to happen a lot. She is certain it's time, and Edward couldn't be happier, although he will keep following her lead. Where will it take them?

Bella was aware that her first time wouldn't be too pleasant for her, she was prepared, so even if uncomfortable, it wasn't a surprise. Edward was tender, gentle and as careful as possible, which was really great.
Sadly Bella is a bit sick, the rain was fun but it brought consequences. To top it, she is just learning Thanksgiving won't be a quiet, small, family gathering. She isn't too happy about it.

Edward is a really nice guy. He knows how and when to comfort Bella, when to say no, and when to say yes. She does try his patience from time to time, though.
Renee's letter wasn't what I expected, it hurt Bella, a lot. Those aren't the things you expect to hear from you mom, but that's who she is. Fortunately Bella has Edward now. So it will help her, when something like this happens.

At the time since "nothing" happened between them, Bella could have asked for the annulment, but that's all in the past now.
Who would have thought that a false alarm would have upset Bella that much? Edward's sadness was expected, but not hers.
There were several things that seemed to be clues in this chapter, the annulment things, of course, but also, what Bella said of her still feeling so tight. And that her period is still late, or nothing stating the contrary was said. What do you have under the sleeve?

Nope, I don't think she should have waited anymore, if then was when it felt right to her, then it was when it should have happened.
It's amazing how much high-school and peer pressure can weight in one's life. They do, wether we like it or not. Dealing and moving along isn't always easy for everyone. Bella had a hard time doing it then, but it seems she is doing a much better job this time around.

They know the sex of the baby and they are thrilled about it. Bella knew it before, but as she said, just as a hunch, still the right one. The name was a great idea and an amazing gesture by Edward. Bella needs to tell her friends why, therapy is helping, but she needs a bit more time still.
The new house seems great. Esme did a great job. Now they just need to get to work on the nursery, and yes, a shopping trip for Bella ;)

The bear part was simply adorable!!! And then comparing it to Bella. If I was Edward i would be pissed at the guys too, they knew exactly what they were doing, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
It was over all a nice day, awkward and strange, but Bella and Edward agreed on a date, until Friday. They will still see each other, hopefully a lot.

Edward really freaked out, he was worried, nervous and couldn't do a thing for a long time. He was finally able to reach her, and see her. It only took a moment for him to realize she is the one for him.

So they finally went on their date, and it was, just about perfect, so far. Even with the host looking over at Bella. She handled that amazingly.

Things look different from opposite sides of the glass. To Edward, James words sounded like a threat to take Bella from him, not the words of a concerned friend looking out for his best friend. Carlisle and Esme, being older, see things clearer, so they wanted to reassure Edward that trusting Bella was the way to go. But Emmett wasn't helping the situation. So Edward decided to just go see Bella and clear things for himself. It was a good call, I think, he got to see, something he needed to see, reassure his girl and spend time with her. So all in all, it wasn't such a bad thing.

About, Bella's first time, maybe, in time, when Edward and James get along well, she could tell him. If it makes her feel better, she should, not that it's basic information for him.
I wonder where did the certainty came from? Not easy to know now. So the decision has been made, now they just need to look for the place, and wait until after the holidays.

So they found their house, it seems nice and just what they needed. Bella, being Bella, is insisting on pitching in, something Edward wasn't too happy about, but has agreed to, so far.
What about Jake? If we could still doubt he has a problem, going out with someone who looks so much like Bella, should start clearing things up.

So things will change for them. Even now, things won't be too bad, Edward can take care of her and make her dreams come true.

Jacob lost his mind, as incredible as it may sound but he did. It's so sad. It's understandable Bella feels so terrible, she was with him for 5 years; in that time, nothing like this ever happened. And then, he lost it, completely. It has to be scary, thinking something like that could have happened to her, or anyone else. Poor Maria, no one deserves that.
As for Edward, he was going to react, and he did, luckily he was stopped before something worse could have happened. Bella was a bit reckless in her actions, but they got the result, and Butch helped too.

Bella has a good heart and good faith on people, that's a great characteristic, but sadly, it can bring trouble from time to time. Luckily, in this case, both her and Edward had an amazing support group.

As for Jake's letter, thinking about the what if's, it was good that he apologized and realized all of his mistakes, but as he said, he made his bed.

By going to the cemetery and cleaning the house she was able to see, she NEEDS to move on. It can't be a minute change, if only, but, it will happen, and I am certain soon.
