Summary: Past Featured Story

i remain

After unexpectedly being given an antique desk and finding a letter written by Edward to his cousin over nine decades earlier in a hidden compartment, Bella, on a whim, decides to respond and starts them on a journey neither could have ever imagined.

Perhaps there are some things we aren't meant to understand, just accept....

This story will eventually contain character death.

I am absolutely fascinated! Your attention to detail makes for a very interesting story! I tend to read more on ff.net, but periodically check in here to see if I stumble across a good read.  I love reading about Edward and his family before the flu hit, and the relationship between Bella, Renee and Phil. You threw me for a loop when you threw in Tanya-with Charlie! Can't wait to see how that pans out!

I haven't quite figured how to get an alert when a story updates here, so I'll just try to check in regularly. Excellent story!

Author's Response:

I'm new here myself, so I really couldn't tell you how to get alerts.  I love Charlie-Tanya.  Charlie is one of my favorite characters, and he has a bigger role in my story than he generally does.  I'm so glad you like it!  I plan to get the next couple chapters up in a couple days.  Thanks for reviewing!

Sorry that I didn't mention in my last review that yes, it's sad to see Ed Sr. getting sick, especially knowing what's coming. Heartbreaking, actually, knowing what comes next. Very glad Bella came to her senses, because Edward does need her, so much.

I can't wait to see how you bring these two together (assuming that's your plan, of course)! :)

Author's Response:

Oh, that's the plan alright.  But it takes time.  They don't actually meet face to face till chapter 50.  Just kidding!  It doesn't take that long.  I'm not that cruel.

Now my heart's really breaking! He doesn't remember her-so unfair! And she's in Phoenix nearly comatose with her own broken heart. AND it sounds like they're about to put her in ... a hospital? Mental health facility? GAH! I'm hoping beyond hope that he'll see her "in the flesh" (without draining her, of course!) and it will hit him like a ton of bricks what she means to him. You have taken canon and twisted it all over the place in the most delicious, unusual ways-I love it! As far as Charlie and Tanya-oh the irony that a succubus would do the vampire equivalent of "imprinting" on a human!

I was checking for an update from you thru ff.net, with no luck, and decided to check here-yay, it was here! I'm sassy156 over there.

As always, thanks for a wonderful update again!

Author's Response:

I don't know what's wrong with ff.net.  I must've tried over twenty times to update over there, but it won't let me upload the next chapter.  I keep getting error messages.  I see other stories have updated, so I don't know what't wrong.

I'm so glad you like it!  I promise, I won't make Edward and Bella (or you) wait that much longer.

Thanks for reviewing!

I loved it! He's realized she's his mate! She knows it was him in the trees-but he doesn't know the Edward she dreams of is HIM. So, will Carlisle tell him what he knows about Bella from his human life? If he doesn't, hopefully you'll clue us into why!

Caught that Titanic moment, of course!

I'm so glad you placed 2nd-1st would have been better, but second's pretty good, don't you think? I truly hope it sends more readers your way; I know when I vote other at TLS I check out the other stories in hopes of finding a good read.  This is too good a story to be missed.

A week seems way too far off right now.  Any chance you might shave a day or two off, you know, since you came in 2nd and all? :)

Author's Response:

Oh, Carlisle would'be keep that from Edward!  He's never had any intention of keeping anything from Edward, but I wrote my Edward very much in-canon, with all of canon Edward's hangups.  Carilsle knows him well enough to foresee potential issues Edward will have with his mate being human.  He's just taking his time to plan out how to tell Edward, but of course, he couldn't think about it around Edward.  Remember, vampires have a very different sense of the passing of time than we do.

I'm thrilled with my second place, no complaints here!  But I'm afraid the bi-weekly updates are over.  I've gone through the small stockpile of betad and edited chapters I had built up.

Thanks for reviewing!

I liked it, but I still want to smack Edward upside the head! Reading this chapter reminded me of New Moon-I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now.  Edward will do what he does best and make a decision that isn't his to make, and hopefully, you won't have their separation before they really meet go on too long.

This may be my most favorite Tanya yet!

Author's Response:

Edward is making a decision that isn't his alone to make - but remember, Bella did the same thing way back in the beginning, and that worked out.  This will too.  She's not ready to meet this Edward yet.  She needs time to mourn the Edward she fell in love with, so she can be ready to love the man he's become, who is very different - different species aside.
