Alice's fantasy view of love and it's participants has strangely enough aided her in recognizing Masen's sincere feelings for her sister.
Lee's word limitation on Alice's ability to express herself is hilarious.
Another giant step for Masen is accepting Bella's possible inability to love sharks but still contribute to the team with her skills of rational logic and team support.
Wondering what words of wisdom Whit will have for Masen regarding his new sleeping schedule?

Lee's word limitation was one of my favorite fun parts of this chapter.
We're pretty sure Masen is too chicken to ask Whit what he thinks of his sleeping changes! LOL

Delightful chapter.
It shouldn't take long for Gopher to figure out what Whit and Lee already know. Guess that only leaves Esme. She'll be so ecstatic that Edward's b-day celebration will have something extra special planned for him and Bella to enjoy alone.
Sounds like both E&B are working through the idea of committing to work and forging a relationship together. So many examples, Angela and Ben (married/working together) Gopher & Lee (involved and working together), to glean information from while spending time together.
Are Carlisle and Alice going to coordinate a visit soon?

Trust us, Gopher already knows. LOL Everything Lee knows, he knows. So yes, Esme is left and she will be very delighted!

Wondering why Edward still has this notion that Jasper is interested in Bella. Jasper has said before that he is waiting patiently for his dream girl. Edward is playing head games with himself.

I was a bit taken aback by Alice's out burst towards Bella. Given the circumstances and her memories I guess its understandable but yet I feel she is mis-placing her anxieties on her big sisters shoulders. Where the blame has now been multiplied causing anguish in Bella's heart.
Whit has his work cut out for him.
Really enjoy the camaraderie as the crew rallies around Bella.
Gopher is more in-tune with Edward's thoughts and feelings than Edward could ever have ever guessed. Heart warming and funny at the same time.
Carlisle and Esme have their kids figured out. Haha. Now how about each other?

Alice definitely needs to address her anxieties rather than pretend she has none and it's all for the good of her sister. Whit and the entire team will end up lending a hand with that. But yes, they definitely have their work cut our for them.
Gopher is great!! And he's really starting to be able to show that to Masen.
Carlisle and Esme are beginning a walk down an interesting path. We'll all have to see where it leads ;)

Lee and the sign language debacle, the mold making - teachable moment, Lee's revenge on Edward, body pillow Edward and cuddle buddy Bella preceded by the amazing second kiss, and Whit pulling the words out of Edward's mouth.

We have a big chapter coming up where you will find out both Edward and Bella's biggest secrets. It's about four chapters away. They weren't going to tell each other any sooner; Bella needs to trust him and Edward needs to stop fighting what he feels. It will take them both letting their guards down for more than a few seconds. :)

Is Edward underlying problem an abandonment issue. He was eleven when his mother passed. Did he know his father?
Esme is an amazing stabilizing force in his life yet she knows he feels short changed by missing out having his actual parents around.
I'm surprised it took Lee so long to figure out Edward's attitude and denial regarding his internally conflicted feelings for Bella.
Edward missed another change to turn things around with Bella. Glad she forced the issue of his wafffeling actions.

Lee was very focused on being ready for South Africa so she wasn't paying much attention to Masen on the way there.
He did miss another chance but lucky for him, he's got another coming soon.
Date: 31 Mar 2015 Title: Chapter 49: 49 From Predator to Prey
Bella narrated the issue of Trust and the definition of Trust as they each use it and believe it to be very succinctly. I was a but leery that Edward would become indignant over this issue but Bella's journal expressed her concerns and proposed an approach to a balance that seemed to alleviate Edward's dander from raising.
Ultimately they have the same concerns over family/team protection. They just arrive at this conclusion from different angles.
Edward is getting the hang of makeup sex. Except for the falling out if bed part! Haha
The team is solidifying even if it's members are moving in different directions for new phases of life.

YES! Exactly that! Arriving at the same conclusion from different angles. The more they put aside their stubborness and look from that other direction, the better it will be for both of them.
Yep! Edward's a little fuzzy on how they can feel closer when they're also breaking up but he has to admit it's true regardless.

Edward is still sending mixed signals; but at least they are attempting to talk their way thru each day. Whit has Edward pegged! Yet, there is no way to air Edward when be won't help himself.
Wondering if him mother's b-day is a distraction. He did have a passing thought that his mother would be displeased with his handling of Bella's affect on him.

If Edward trusts Lee's judgments during an exercise in the waters, why doesn't he trust her observation skills regarding Bella's needs and ability to push through a difficult situation?
Did E&B resolve anything on the beach other than the strong physical attraction remains intact? Maybe the agreement to help each other with their shortcomings; Edward's people skills and her shark knowledge but nothing concrete was decided.
I think Esme needs to just come right out and say what she means. Poor Edward is clueless when it comes to balancing his emotions for Bella and helping her understand the pain/fear of her past losses. The 70/30% talk didn't go in his favor.

It's not that Edward doesn't trust Lee. It's that he feels so personally responsible for Bella that he would rather it be his fault a wrong call was made than Lee's. Plus, Edward knows that Lee is only seeing glimpses of Bella's issues because the two women haven't spent much time together yet.
The agreement to help each other was the first step in Edward admitting that he does need help in relating to Bella. It's the solid base he needs for the actions he's going to take in the very next chapter.
Esme cannot come right out and say what she means because Edward will stubbornly refuse to listen if she does that. She knows her best bet with him is to give him things to think about and let him work out what he wants them to mean for himself. You'll see in the next chapter that Esme's talk with him tonight makes him behave very differently tomorrow.

Did I miss the tissue warning?
Edward re-telling the love story of his parents to Bella is exactly what his mother was hoping for someday. To begin the process of incorporating her love of family into his heartach at the loss of his mother. This bonding over the loss of a loved one is the foundation that will build onto their physical attraction taking in to a higher level of sharing and caring for each other.
Wondering if this new crew will have a member that takes an interest in Bella?

LOL I will tell EA to come up with a proper tissue warning for any future chapters that may require it. You are so right about this night being a foundation for their future. Bella doesn't realize it yet but Edward does. Nope! No one on the crew will take interest in any of the MMR crew members outside of working together.

Whit and Lee are enjoying their ability to watch all of this unfold. LOL Bella's struggling but she's definitely holding her own as well. It's got to be such a struggle just to be there, to know she's there to deal with sharks. Then to be falling for a guy who likes them and wants to protect them ... Not an easy spot to be in for sure.

Bella's journal entry was very cathartic. I'm not sure I would have been able to write my inner most feelings. Especially when it came too her mother not being around for Alice.
Gopher's comment about the cape wearing kiss; very funny.
Whit the nudger is definitely getting assistance from Esme.
I liked the talk Bella had with Esme about Uncle Carl and how giving up his life for his brother's girls was explained by Esme's own experience with Edward.
The tidal pool scene was very cute.
Why is Edward sabotaging his mind with thoughts of his fears not defining his love for Bella?

Bella has that unique ability to be completely honest with herself, no matter what she might find out. Love that about her.
Edward is just trying to get a handle on massive changes suddenly twisting his life. He'll figure it out soon.

So the other two women in Masen's life have called him out on his deep feelings of love for Bella. And he finally whispers his true hearts sentiment, but where does that leave him when Bella wakes from her ordeal with the sting-ray? Will he continue to berate himself for the snorkeling disaster? Will Bella's fears of the water return ten-fold?
Can't wait for the next chapter.
Lee and Gopher will be the only pair not teased for their hormonal behavior.
Looking forward to Carlisle and Esme making a connection. Whit the nudge won't have enough time to be messing with Masen's head because Alice will be too busy keeping Jasper on his toes.

I'm beginning to think this is my favorite chapter so far! I have appreciated the glimps into each characters concerns and their impressions as to making this amalgamated group of misfits into a blossoming family.
This description of cannon Bella's flaw of not liking surprises is perfect: "My dad always said it was because my curiosity is stronger than my patience."
Edward is expanding his heart and mind at the expense of his comfort zone. While his friends-family look on with delight at his struggle and good fortune. This is encouraging to read.
Chuckled at Gopher's description of the affect the Cullen girls are having on the group.
Not just the girls........Esme seems rather smitten herself. Laughed so hard that tears streamed down my face while reading Esme's text to Whit. He's an awesome nudger and a true romantic! Paris stroll in my dreams, sigh.
How long before Edward gains the ability to speak the words of his heart? He seems tortured by his inability to stop being so analytical. Lee's reference to 'Masen speak' was comical especially knowing Bella's figured it out rather quickly.
Esme assessed Alice's actions quickly. Summing up the similarities between Edward's approach to figuring out life's ups and downs through cobtrol and Alice's need for safety. Very smooth approach, getting Alice to see the need to view the groups efforts to aid Bella in overcoming her fears.
There is a line from a song called SISTERS from the classic movie White Christmas that popped into my head while reading the last few chapters: ........Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister; and Lord help the sister who comes between me and my man!

It was a lot of fun and a learning experience to mix in some different POVs. And we certainly had a lot of changes and suprises going on in this chapter. We're excited to bring even more!!

Smiling at the fact that Edward is weaving Bella's style of writing into his own. Keeping her connected to the project even though she is not with the team.

Date: 09 Feb 2016 Title: Chapter 56: 56 A Fighter and A Queen
Masen has become a beautiful blend of love and logic where family and friends are concerned.
You scared me a bit in the beginning of this chapter with Masen missing his breakfast appointment with his Kapu. The shark scene was equally as calculated as it was reckless. I wonder if Edward dismissed Bella's feelings and initial fears to quickly. She has overcome a lot while in the service of MMR but her past experiences will always determine her initial reaction. Time to process us essential. Even if it has to come after an emergency situation.
The boys did a fantastic job arranging Lee's dream wedding.
Now Edward has a date set for his special day.

It's been so rewarding to us to watch Masen grow and learn and put his family first, even before his logic.
Masen isn't dismissing her so much as overestimating her abilities. He's still bad at measuring the difference between her emotions and her logical abilities. He's much better than where he started, but still has some learning to do there.
That wedding was so sweet and fun. I'm not big on writing weddings but I enjoyed that one a lot. And EA enjoyed finding all the outfits and decorations.

I was bouncing in my seat ad I read the frank conversation between Carlisle and Esme! Semi-retirement and bi-coastal relationships sound pretty serious. The idea of Esme having a child seems rather late in life and frot with health concerns.
The sister talk evoked a few emotions.
It would appear that Whit is under the same 'Swan Spell' as Masen. The sisters have quite the pull in these two unsuspecting young men. Haha. Well, maybe Whit saw it comin but Masen was blindsided!

Carlisle and Esme are as much realists as they are romantics. :) Esme's only 35. That's not late in life.
Whit saw something coming but he had - and still has - no idea of just what all he's getting with Alice.

Another heart to heart talk with mom, anxiety over his trust issues, knee buckling kisses.....Edward is all over the place emotionally. How long, with Bella's constant level headed support, will it take Edward to trust? Esme may have been harsh in her assessment of his over reaction but she was spot on.
The penguins and nicknaming Alice 'Thumper' was a great way to include her as the newest addition to MMR. Will Carlisle receive a nickname?

This line seems to sum up every ounce of conflict Edward battles in his head while loving Bella: "She represents the danger of attachment and the fear of permanent loss."
Even Whit and Esme can't fix the heart that aches from the death of a loved one.
Carlisle is very smooth!
He charmed his way not only into her bed but her heart as well! They are to each other just what the doctor ordered. Haha

Alice isn't completely sure of her intentions. She's just running her mouth with whatever pops into her head. While she was with Whit, she was helping him take inventory of the medical supplies downstairs. Then she spent some time going over a video with Bella and Edward. And because he's Gopher and he can't help himself, she also shared in "swabbing the deck". LOL
Date: 28 May 2015 Title: Chapter 50: 50 Traditions Old & New
How amazing was it to for Edward to share the wisdom he has gleaned this summer about letting the knowledge of one's love flow through the confidence of a strong and steady relationship. Lee was feeling a bit left out. Whit was spending some much needed alone time with Alice, Edward is creating a new post season routine (and future) with Bella, Esme is newly engaged to Carlisle; these rapid changes are affecting Lee's thoughts on her place within MMR and as a couple with the steadfast Emmett.
Has Emmett noticed his girl's contemplative moments? I'm sure it didn't slip passed him.
I love this line: Calendars are for making sure we pay bills on time, not determining the depth of a relationship between two people.

Lee actually understands Bella rather well. She called the situation where Bella needed to switch stations while on duty. Since Rose was able to expressing her thoughts, Edward was prepared to accept the duty roster changes.
I'm going to have to give Alice credit for recognizing Edward's leadership skills while dealing with Bella's sensitive subject matter.
Alice was more accepting of the events that created MMR than I expected. Now that Jasper has revealed his painful experience she can learn from him what it takes to move forward in life without regrets. Bella's also learning this from Masen. Just on a higher level of intensity than Alice.
I'm wondering if Alice will have another sit-down with Edward to reveal her latest thoughts on how he is helping her sister cope?

Honestly, we wish Alice would have a sit-down with Edward. The problem is that she would have to go in without all of her preconsceptions and she can't do that with him yet. Sure, she reacted well to Whit's experience, but that had more to do with her love for him than what she actually learned. Where Bella empathasizes greatly with Whit and Masen, Alice struggles greatly to see past her own pain and recognize those signs in others. But she's young and there's time for her to change - and a whole team of folks ready to help her when she's ready.
Date: 16 Dec 2013 Title: Chapter 33: 33 Thumper Owns All Horns
Alice has a ways to go to prove her maturity level is back on the rise. Will Whit take a step back from their budding romance due to her short-sighted views of MMR and its leader?
Bella presented a very well thought out set of stipulations for Alice to follow. Let's hope this set of ground rules will aid in her progression. Albeit rather slowly and very cautiously, I'm sure.
Will Alice finally learn that family as well as safety is important to the members of MMR?
Esme bonding with Lee and Bella over artificial satisfaction, was very funny!
I like how Esme picked up on Bella's ability to soothe her son's nerves just by talking through his concerns.
Lovin Emmett's steadfast insightfulness.
Will Carlisle learn of Esme's interest in the Avengers? Lol.

Date: 15 Jan 2014 Title: Chapter 34: 34 What Do I Stand For
Masen's thoughts on being conflicted about Alice's relationship with her sister verses his wanting Whit to be happy, speaks volumes about his character.
Whit's comment was quite accurate, that action adventure was 'wrapped up in crazy'!
It would appear that everyone is observing the passive aggressive actions of Alice toward Edward as interferencing with the safety of 'the team, family'. Bella's finally recognizing it for what it actually is. I'm pleased that even uncle Carlisle was able to call Alice out on her actions against the team and how they could affect balance and even safety of that little family.
Who will be the first to make the suggestion that Alice stays behind once they go ashore? Will Alice get the jump on Bella, surprising the other members?
Bella was really finding her place in the search for knowledge and confidence. Then this event happens and she is struggling to look out for herself once again. I hope Emmett's encouragement, Whit's balancing act between sisters and Lee's gentle guidance along with Edward's loving support fill the cracks in her foundation.
The next few days on land will be interesting to day the least.
Alice has lost most the forward progress she had made. Introspection, will it set Alice back on course?

That was an intensely emotional chapter on all fronts. Let's hope the building of trust and family bonds remains a high priority for Alice and the rest of the party.
Will we get to read Lee's perspective on Alice's revelations as well as her apologies?
I believe Uncle Carlisle needs to continue the encouraging comments from his brothers perspective. Reinforcing the bonds of family and the strength gained through the struggles and perseverance as they rebuild their lives.
Alice seems to thrive under the loving guidance of a mother figure like Esme.
Edward's heart felt confession to Alice of his fears of losing Bella brought the final pieces together for Alice. She has a lot to prove to each member of this amalgamated family.

Lee's perspective at this moment is sort of a mix between Whit and Masen. She hopes for everyone else's sake that Alice is being truthful and open minded now, but like Masen she is wary of putting a lot of trust into it. She's not going to say anything right now because her style is to watch and learn before passing judgment.
Alice does have a lot to prove and she actually does recognize that - this is all on her, not them.

Wow, Masen stepped in that pile all the way to his neck! A bulldozer size explanation to move the load of crap out of the way may take hours for him to get it right. This was worse than his first infraction because a deep level of trust had been established. How much will this event affect their personal relationship versus their professional one?
Gopher was very accurate in his observations and he wasn't the one in the room. No wonder Whit was so angry.
Was Bella's maiden voyage driving the skiff uneventful?

I love how receptive Esme is to Bella's methods of discussing the relationship between her son and his first girlfriend.
Did Carlisle create some of the doubt in Edward's mind regarding Bella's future?
Maybe it's Edward that is struggling to keep the lines from blurring as Bella touches all aspects of his life. Esme might be right about Edward needing to take his love for Bella up a notch or two in the physical department. Not that I advocate sleeping with the employees, but his girlfriend needs more to solidify their commitment to a future together.

Esme trusts Bella to treat Edward with respect and that is a big reason why she can have conversations like that with Bella. And Esme also isn't afraid to admit that her kid isn't perfect. LOL
We don't think Carlisle created the doubt, but he may have fed the doubt that was already there. The level of guilt Edward was feeling over his behavior was the source of his doubt - he's not used to failing at anything and to be so miserable at keeping his work and personal life separate is confusing for him.

It was absolutely perfect for the way they have set up the lines of communication and pushing that line of physical needs versus want into their future. Edward's revelation about his self imposed restriction helped Bella understand his new resolve at making their relationship about more than an image for the rest of the world to scrutinize.
I can't wait for Whit and Lee to decipher Edward's new behavior around them. HEHEHEHE
I'm sure Esme already knows exactly what has been resolved in her sons life. lol

Yeah, I'm finally back in the boat and ready to ride the waves of joy that this story leaves in it's wake.
I really enjoyed this chapter. Even though most of it was at Masen's expense. LOL.
Funniest lines:
The second the door clicked shut Whit was running off at the mouth. "So what was rocking the boat more? The storm or you blowing your line out of the water? And don't even think about lying to me, bro. I need information, not wasted time. Start with what the hell finally got through your self-imposed chastity belt."
And: Esme's reference to wild spider-monkey sex popping stitches. Hahaha
Poor Bella, finally taking the initiative to please her partner only to smash the beans and franks in the presence of her family!

So much growth for each of the characters in this chapter!
The T-Shirt frenzy was funny as each of the members tried to cover up their part in pulling off their involvement.
Esme's concerns are valid but Edward's age and experiences are much more in-tune with his current situation. He was so young during his first attempt to be on his own.
I like how family, no matter it's shape, is a strong theme in this story.
Alice, the human spinning top! Too funny.
If only in real life we were so comfortable talking out every thought and feeling without becoming distraught or defensive. Things would flow much more smoothly. :)

I agree so much about the comfortable aspect of talking things out. If we could all be more like characters who think faster and speak better than we do on a day to day basis, there would be a huge reduction in misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
Yes, Edward's growth and experiences definitely put him in a different place. We like he had thought about his past on his own and had really took stock of if he was capable of being different now. Esme knows he is, but he has to believe it too.

My money is on Esme to crack as she watches Edward struggle to keep his thoughts on his projects. Lee and Whit will be wondering what he is trying to cover up.
Pregnancy for dummies is just what the over informed Edward needs to increase his concern for his mom. Maybe he would be better off conferring with Carlisle on what to expect from his mother's condition?

Probably because if Esme was really Edward's mom, she would have to be in her early forties.
Don't worry about Edward's book. Bella is already plotting on how to take it away and give him something that won't have him prepping for doomsday instead of a birth.
They haven't set a date yet. Edward has left the date picking to Bella and they've been so busy creating their life together that she hasn't given it a lot of thought yet. That will be changing before long ;)

The Octonaughts were a delightful addition to the care taking responsibilities for the Boys of MMR.
I discovered this group of seafaring explorers a little over three years ago. My granddaughter (two years old at this time) wanted "screen time" with my phone. I asked my daughter what she meant. My little Isabella wanted to use my phone to watch cartoons. I found the Disney free app and we found the Octonaughts. Together we learned about the sea and it's many amazing creatures.
Carly Elizabeth adds a new dimension to the group of misfits and their surrounding family.
Edward's an adult. He was blessed with having a wonderful mother and the amazing love of an aunt that took on the job of his mom. There really wasn't any reason or room in his life for conflict surrounding the arrival of his niece/little sister. Just more love.

Why wasn't the marriage announced as well? Will Esme and Carlisle be hosting a reception at some point in the future to celebrate their wedding vows? I understand Esme's fears but she should have asked Edward and Bella to play witness to the event. It's been just the two of them for so long that this action could be looked at as impetuous and demeaning to Edward's position in Esme's life. Much like how Bella feels about Alice's rash actions. Not worthy of the respect their efforts have acquired.
Lilo is a cute addition to the family.
Gopher is proving to be a very significant part of Edward's support system.

Esme and Carlisle didn't want the whole night to end up being about them instead of the family so they are holding off for a few days. The ladies will be throwing a reception no matter what anyone else says. HAHA
I can understand your point of view and Edward certainly could have taken it that way, but he knows Esme so well and he knows she had to need this so very deeply to do it without him there.

If someone were to spar against the King as part of his training, that isn't seen as an act of aggression, it is them following orders by training with him. There are a lot of times when an order from the King or Queen goes against what you should do, but it is worse to defy your monarch than to follow convention, because in the end the monarch is the law. But I like that angle, your reviews are always very insightful!

Hoping Jasper is right....Bella will not run and hide from all this trauma/drama.

I gather from Bella's out-burst that Brady was not Seth's biological father but was will to step up and accept the responsibility of raising him. The something Brady never experienced.
I have to give Prezward credit for keeping hus mouth closed as Bella revealed her mixed emotions from the kiss Edward took from her.
Bella is correct in stating Edward had no right to force himself on her with out permission.
Curious as to how the conversation will play out once Bella removes herself from the strong comforting arms that now craddle her?

Great media situation. Bella could reveal Seth's paternal side; then gave Brady honored as a hero by telling their story; then build up president Cullen as someone trying to correct the health care reform act while giving her the chance to care for Seth. It's a win, win in the eyes of the media and hopefully his ratings will rise just as his appendage does when Bella is around. Haha!
