Interesting story so far. I'm intrigued as to what's happened to Bella and what it is that the Cullens seem to 'understand' about her.

Author's Response:

Thank you. I hope you enjoy the rest of it:)

Summary: Past Featured Story

The story begins six months after Edward left Bella in the forest, but unfortunately things have taken a darker turn than our beloved SM wrote. This is the tale of how Edward and Bella eventually find their way back to each other, although it is a difficult road traveled. There will not be any reference to the events in Eclipse or BD.

Rating: NC-17 is for lemons sometime down the road!

This was a great beginning to the story. It always bothered me that the Cullens never seemed to truly understand exactly what they did to Bella emotionally by leaving, and having them brought face to face with the reality of it seems very realistic. I also never quite understood how Charlie could just sit there and watch his daughter waste away for four months like he did, it was one part of the saga that always rather bothered me, and I'm anxious to see where you go with the story from here.

Ah, poor Jasper. He takes everything to heart just as Bella does, and I hope she eventually finds a way to help him alleviate his guilt over the birthday fiasco. Well-written chapter - it's nice to get a glimpse into the mind of Carlisle. He was so short-changed in the books we never really got a chance to know him.

Bella's thoughts were so piognant they actually made me tear up, empathizing with her feelings. You have quite the way with words, bringing your characters to life in a way that readers can easily identify with.

Fantastic chapter and definitely worth the wait. It allowed us a glimpse into the vulnerability within both Jasper and Bella, and the trust they're building between them that will see them through the tough times ahead. Your lemons were written with an eloquence that truly did them justice, and I enjoyed how you so skillfully wove everything else in between their more intimate moments.

I love seeing characters in a story portrayed so realistically in a way that allows you to identify with them, and I'm certainly loving your Jasper and Bella. You have a true gift for writing, and I'm very glad I stumbled upon this story and have the privilege of taking this journey with you.

Author's Response:

Wow, thank you so much!  I'm glad I found the balance with the lemons-  I love to read good lemons, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just about that.  I'm glad you think it worked.  Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I'm liking your Bella, the subtle changes to her character as she's endured the last few years since Edward left her are realistic and well-explained. I look forward to seeing where you take her.

Author's Response:

Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying her.  I'm trying hard to make her balanced.  Hope you enjoy the rest of her journey!  Thanks for letting me know what you thought!

Reviewer: Dyxie Signed

Great first meeting between them, their reactions to touching each other remind me of what imprinting for the wolves is supposed to be like. It would be a great way for 'destined mates' to find each other, vampire-style.

One thing, the story is wonderfully written so far, but the flow would work better if the words of different characters weren't put into the same paragraphs. Separating them by spacing makes it easier to figure out who is saying what without having to re-read a time or two.

Author's Response:

Thanks again for letting me know what you thought!  I kind off played of the electricity Bella and Edward felt with each other and turned it into peace!  Stick with me on the dialog format, I promise, I get a lot better as it goes, lol!  I'm learning something every chapter, and will eventually back edit previous chapters to improve them, but for now I'm focused on getting the story done!  Thanks for telling me in a way that didn't involve the word migraine headache (see my review page!)  Thanks so much for revieiwing!

Loving Jasper. His reactions to Bella's tale were spot-on and remind me of why I wished he'd gotten more focus in the original series. He was always one of the most interesting characters to me.

I can't wait to see how their relationship develops, and I'm hoping we'll get to see a few more of the Cullens again soon.

Reviewer: Dyxie Signed

Great chapter. I love the way Jasper instinctively 'gets' Bella, it makes so much sense considering his gift that he'd be very perceptive in that way. It's also nice to see that Bella wasn't emotionally destroyed over Edward's stupidity. I always felt she got a bad rap with that, that her inner strength was underestimated, and it's nice to see a story where she's not a hot emotional mess for years over it.

Author's Response:

I'm so glad you're enjoying the characters!  I love these guys so much so it makes me feel great to know others are responding to them too!  I'm afraid I've really over-idealized Jasper, but even when I try to correct it, it just doesn't work, so I'm just going with the flow, and leaving him practically perfect, lol!  Yeah, I hated the whole Eclipse depression, so I kind of decided to change her life so that she had to either cowboy up a little!  Thanks for reviewing as you read, I appreciate it!

Great job on bringing the past up to meet the present in laying the foundation for this story. Their interaction is so heartfelt, and I loved her reaction to his past. I always felt someone needed to show Jasper that his scars weren't an outward manifestation of the monster he feels himself to be, but just a part of him instead. Very nicely done.

Author's Response:

Thanks for sticking through the "foundation chapters!  I feel like you're really getting things the way I was trying to say them, yay!  Bella and Jasper both need to realize that while our actions are important factors in our personalities, we are not defined by our actions alone.  I'm sure they'll help each other figure it out!  Thanks for reviewing.

Another great chapter. I'm really liking the whole 'peaceful feeling' thing, and the way they're so unsure of each other is just adorable. It's no surprise Jasper figured out so quickly that it helps him in helping Bella, and it's good to see that he's not afraid to use it. Jasper may be a tad bit idealized, but damn, I'd take one of him for my own any day.

I'm curious to know what's going on with Andy, and I was pretty impressed with how well Jasper handled the situation at the bar without losing control. I'd always wondered if Jasper wouldn't have been a far better match for Bella than Edward, considering she's such an emotional creature and he's an empath, and this story is only cementing that opinion in my mind. I should be cleaning my house right now, but I'm too involved in what happens next here.

Author's Response:

Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only one who negelcts important household duties to read fanfics!  I'm glad you're enjoying the Bella/Jasper pairing.  I'm trying to make him in control without being a control freak!  Thanks so much for your reviews, they're like my own brand of heroin!

I loved the lead-up into their first kiss, it was definitely Bella's style and made me laugh. Jasper seems to have found the perfect balance between respecting her independence and helping her, and it's nice to see Bella starting to deal with her abandonment issues.

I always felt she let the Cullens off far too easily for their abandonment of her, regardless of Edward's issues. They had minds of their own and could have chosen to do the right thing, instead of the easy one. While I'd love to see her end up as part of the family again in this story, I'm also hoping that if it happens, she makes sure they understand exactly what kind of emotional pain and consequences their actions toward her caused. She wasn't the only one who had some growing to do.

Author's Response:

I so agree!  The Cullens never had any consequences to leaving her, and they definitely will in this fic!  My over-idealized Jasper, how I love thee, lol!  Of course he's found the perfect balance- he stays perfect, no matter how many times I try to add a character flaw!  I'm hopeless!  Thanks for reviewing!

Loved the theater scene, and Jasper's being so good about Andy, it's easy to see how Bella can fall for him so quickly. I can't wait to find out what Andy's involved in, and it was good to see Bella's common sense come into play at the apartment. Seems she's learned a little self-preservation since Forks.

Great chapter, all the little sub-plots have my interest peaked and my imagination working overtime, which is the mark of a really good story. I was lucky enough to be able to read these first twelve chapters in one sitting, and now I'm pouting as badly as the vacuum because I have to wait for the next one to be posted.

As always, this chapter did not disappoint and was well worth the wait. Their interactions always tug at my heart strings with their poignancy, and I love how Bella is becoming stronger over time. The old Bella would have lost her mind in that situation, but the new one kept her head and worked to keep herself alive, secure in the knowledge that she was no longer alone and could depend on Jasper to come for her - a big turning point for her.

Being a writer myself, I won't urge you to update as fast as you can, since I know that good work takes time and patience. However, I will say that I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment of this story. I'm definitely hooked.

Author's Response:

Reviewer: Dyxie Signed

Fantastic chapter. I love the way Bella responded to Jasper's vulnerability and weakness in the hospital, looking beyond her own pain to ease his. The way he allowed himself to lean on her showed such growth for him, while strengthening the bond between them and taking it to a new level. The meeting with Carlisle and Esme was perfect, and Bella's reactions were both realistic and poignant, giving them both a glimpse into just how deeply they hurt her by leaving in such a heartless way. I can't wait to see what happens as the story progresses and they attempt to rebuild the relationship with Bella that they so carelessly threw away. I'm also loving seeing Peter introduced, and it's great how he already sees Bella as his little sister.

You can never go wrong when Peter and Jasper are together, no matter the situation. Throw in a fiesty little Bella and anything's possible.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the lovely review!  You really got what I was trying to portray at the hospital- hope I didn't go overboard, it took me several attempts to get it written!  Lots more of Peter coming up next, as well as more with the Cullens!  Thanks for reviewing!

Reviewer: Dyxie Signed

Great chapter and, as usual, so worth the wait. I'm going to give your Peter a high-five - his interaction with Bella was so sweet, and I loved the way she was instantly so comfortable with him. I hope we'll be seeing a lot more of their interaction throughout the rest of the story.

Poor Alice. I have to admit I never cared for her character much, but I can't keep myself from pitying her current situation despite my dislike. I can't wait to see what Peter's come up with to help her, and the idea of the Vampire Whisperer was awesome. You bring such a sense of subtle humour to the story and it's enchanting.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how Jasper and Peter plan to take care of the creeps who hurt Bella, and anticipating some intense justice to be dealt out, vampire style. I have to admit I'm a total sucker for sexy, protective males.

Author's Response:

So glad you enjoyed Peter and Bella's connection- I hoped people would like the feel of it. He'll be a regular character, so glad you like him!  Now Alice- I loved her in the books, but now that I'm BellaxJasper, she has to go, and the "nice" ways to write her out are taken!  Hope I can pull the vamp whisperer off on paper like he is in my head!

The boys are out for blood and Alex's days are numbered!  A lot of people are screaming for their heads to roll, so hope everyone will handle the violence ok!

Thanks for the lovely review!

Reviewer: Dyxie Signed
Date: 15 Jul 2010 Title: Chapter 17: Chapter 17

I love Peter's sense of humour and how he's drawing Bella's out in response to it. Having Jasper's love could bring her 80% of the way back to life, but to truly heal from the past she needs others in her life as well, others she's willing to open her heart to, and Peter is certainly filling that need. I'm sure that Charlotte will help quite a bit as well.

It was uplifting to see that she didn't cave into the Cullens, leaving the possibility open for more interaction in the future without offering complete forgiveness that they haven't yet earned from her. It will do them good to have to work for her love once more, since they so carelessly threw it away the first time around.

I'm so glad Andy finally saw the light thanks to grandma, Bella would have been heartbroken had he continued to refuse help. It would have been a victory for K2 even if they were utterly destroyed by the guys, and I would have hated to see that happen. As I stated in an earlier review, I'm so looking forward to watching them get what they deserve after all the harm they've caused.

Bella using Charlotte against Peter was hilarious and I had no trouble picturing that phone conversation in my head. Poor Peter, I think he seriously underestimates Bella's 'ruthless/stubborn' streak at times, and it's great to see her holding her own against him without the million and one blushes she would have been betrayed by in the past. Bella with a backbone is awesome.

I always loved the contradictions in Jasper's personality. One moment he's the Major in all his glory, and the next he's the perfect mate, showing the sweet, loving side of his heart by going out of his way to get back pieces of Bella's past for her. It filled in another missing piece of her heart while offering him the opportunity to get to know her better.

Great way to end the chapter. Jasper's so damn sexy when he's Dominant. I even caught my husband reading over my shoulder. *grin*

Author's Response:

What a fantastic review- thank you so much!  You're so perceptive about the role Peter will play with Bella, and of course Char will too once we meet her (soon!)  One of the things that drove me crazy in the books was they way Bella let the Cullens off the hook about leaving.  It was like she thought is was acceptable for them to do that- no self worth.  We'll check in with Andy in the future so people get a chance to meet him sober too.  K2 goes down next chapter (yay!).  *giggle* what'd your husband say?  My hubs doesn't know what I write (he's not much of a reader!), maybe I'll ask him to proofread for me!!!  Thanks so much for the lovely in depth review!

Reviewer: Dyxie Signed

Fantastic way to end K2, and I love that Jasper took so much extra time with Alex - he needed a 'special attention' kind of beatdown. It definitely satiated my newborn bloodthirst, and I was cheerin' Jasper along out loud, much to my husband's amusement.

Loving Char so far - she's such a great foil for Peter, the perfect compliment to his personality. I can see her and Bella becoming quite close, and I'm sure Bella can pick up a thing or two from her over the coming years of their friendship.

I felt so bad for Jasper, having to relive what he used to be like during his Maria days, but I was also damned proud of him, too. He resisted the call of the blood being spilled around him, and managed to hold himself together long enough to get back to Bella so she could help him as only she can. He's so much stronger than anyone ever gave him credit for, and maybe now he will start to see that for himself.

The moment they started trying to keep Bella and Jasper apart, I knew that wasn't going to fly, and Bella's little speech to them afterward was great. Her backbone is growing right along with her self-confidence, and it's wonderful to see.

This is one story that I'm never going to want to see come to an end, and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Enjoy your time away, and a belated Happy Birthday!

P.S.: As for your question in response to the last review I left, rather than tell me what he thought about what he read, my husband decided to show me instead, and all I can say is... Thank you, Jasper! *big damned grin*

P.P.S.: Let your hubby proofread!!

Author's Response:

Glad Alex's ending entertained you and your husband, lol!  Lot's more of Char ahead, no worries!  I'm happy you like the ways Bella's changing.  My birthday was very nice, thank you!

p.s. will try out the proofreading on hubby, and Jasper says he's glad to oblige *tips his hat and winks at you*

Wonderful resolution to the Bella/Emmet situation - he's such a sweetheart, I don't think anyone could stay angry with him for too long. I'd love to see him and Rosalie join the 'Whitlocks' full time, the hilarity that would ensue would be epic.

Mama Josie was great, such a character! I love the trust Jasper has for Bella, just following her lead at times without worrying or over-thinking things. And I so agree with Jasper that Bella needs to get totally drunk once before he changes her. That night would go down in infamy between her and Peter and the trouble they could get into.

P.S.: Best of luck with your mother-in-law's situation. I help take care of mine since she has Alzheimer's and I know what a strain a seriously ill familiy member can put on a person. Stay strong.

Drunk Bella was adorable, and I love the idea of the 'bucket list'.

Jasper's sweetness toward Bella as she was dealing with her grief over Charlie's loss almost brought me to tears, and her goodbye to him was so realistically poignant.

I can imagine how intense the upcoming scene with the wolves is going to be, and I can't wait to see what happens next. I love the way you're interweaving so many subplots into the main one, you always keep me guessing and anxiously awaiting the next twist.

Great chapter. It was nice to see Bella able to help the vampires instead of always being the 'weak link' - should be a great confidence booster for her. I also enjoyed the more humorous aspects of the blood donation, it brought a little levity to a serious situation. It was good for her to get some closure with Charlie, and also with the wolves, as she can more easily keep her gaze forward now, rather than it skipping to the past so often.

Author's Response:

I'm so glad you liked Bella helping Peter-- I've had a few complaints that I made the vamps weak against the wolves.  That wasn't my intention, but I needed to make Peter vulnerable somehow so that Bella could step up.  She gets to help, and Jasper gets to learn that he can be around her blood.  If you liked the blood jokes, stay tuned!!!!   I got the most awesome idea from a reviewer and I'm running with it in the next chapter!

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

The letters were poignant and tender, the perfect ending to Edward's life. I've read a lot of stories where Edward was treated as a villain because of his mistakes, and it was refreshing that you gave him the opportunity to atone for them and make a true difference in this one.
