I read this yesterday but wanted to take a little time to think about this review. As much as I admire this Edward I just wish he would occasionally admit his mistakes to Bella.
When she said about not surrendering to James and about James trying to break her, Edward had a light bulb moment, he hadn't thought about that from Bella's pov. Although he said to himself and therefore us about him being " a f****** asshole" he didn't say it to Bella and if I was Bella and had just been through the most awful evening that would have made me feel so much better because he showed humility. But that's why I could never be a submissive I suppose.

I don't think that at that moment it would have been benifical for Edward to say anything. If he would have admited that he was 2nd -3rd or even 4th guessing his plan (which he had many times wondered) it would have sounded to Bella that he was not confident about what had happened ... like her surrender might have been a mistake. At that moment Bella needed hiim to be confident, strong and in control...so that she could continue to work the whole thing out in her head and heart.. You have to remember Humilty and Dom..never go together... and had they been haveing a discussion as Bf/Gf...he migt have said "I was being an ass" because he's said that in the past..But as her Dom...never...ever would he humble himself to be ...for lack of a better work ..equal. with her. I've just found this story and I love how Daniel is becoming a more emotional person with her, his character is developing nicely, I personally don't like this type of story where the male lead is too emotionally detached but I think you have the balance just right so far.

She is strong, but she still has her moments of self doubt and old feelings of worthlessness that were spawned by her ex. Being a survivor of abuse, I still have times when it's all too easy to fall back into the old traps, the old habits and become a doormat again. I have to really stay on my toes to keep myself pointed in the right direction. Livie is going through those same things. Xander's her first relationship post divorce and he's got his own fucked up personal life to complicate things as well. She can stand up to him, but sometimes she's a little too submissive for my liking...but that's real life.
