An impromptu "business" trip in the era of the 1900's would have been unlikely, especially with it taking place solely over the weekend, given the professional & higher level of society the Masens' lived & worked among.
Someone who did business on a Sunday was thought to be lacking Christian values & character unless the business was a service for which the public would suffer if it were not available.
An attorney doesn't quite fit that category, & it would not be unusual in the least for the priest or pastor of their church to question Edward & his mother as to Mr. Masen's whereabouts.
This leads me to believe the "impromptu" business trip is something else: something Mr. Masen is not telling his wife or son.

It's not an impromptu business trip :-P In the last part of the chapter, read between the lines. Mr. Masen makes an excuse so that he won't have to admit that he forgot about his son's concert.
I did not know about the whole christian thing, and I'm sorry I haven't done better research :-P

Is Charlie being blackmailed by Jacob, otherwise, it does not make any sense for him to do as he has done?
Edward is so devoted & desirous of Bella, he makes every momet count, every little touch, every kiss, he is head-over-hells in love with Bella & so is his family.
Bella will be devastated to learn all the secrets of her parents' once they are revealed.

Hey, thanks for reading and review Meeting Her Needs. Nikky and I are very happy with the amount of pleasure most of you are finding in this story, so THANK YOU SO MUCH. There haven’t been very many questions or things to touch base on this week, so I’ll try to do it all here. Someone wanted to know why the lemon wasn’t longer and more detailed. The lemon was written the way it was because we want this story to be more about the story and less about the lemons themselves. We had questions and comments regarding the BDSM in this fic too. I sigh looking at Phil. “She’ll be fine—she has to be—we just need to be there for her when she needs us.”
I nod and get up to start looking around for her. I looked throughout the house first, which takes me almost a half hour to do. I was starting to panic that she actually left our home. I open the back patio door and I see her, and instantly I feel myself calm.
“Beautiful,” I say when I approach her, as she works in the dirt of the flower bed she started with my mother. She stops and turns to me and I give her time, knowing she is going to talk to me now.
“Dr. Banner thinks I have been suppressing and curtailing my anger. I’m starting to think that he’s right. I’m just so angry right now, but mainly I’m mad at myself.”
I frown and tilt my head in question at her.
“Edward, I let them—I let them treat me that way. I was always trying to please them. I never asked for anything other than their time. I would always say it was fine, when they forgot my birthday, or anything that was connected to me. I let Charlie push me out of his life. I would always sit back and pretend that didn’t kill me to see him call Leah his princess, or listen to him tell her he was proud of her and loved her. I would say it was me that was to blame for that. I was the broken one. That there must be something wrong with me, and I wasn’t worthy of their love. It’s kind of pathetic when you think about it, huh?”
I shake my head and move to her. “It’s not pathetic to want and desire to be loved.”

Bella's parents never split up, Renee never followed her dreams and escaped Forks. Thus, Bella has grown up in a constantly overcast small town with a police chief father and a mother who's checked out emotionally. She's still the straight A student whose never met a boy who peaked her interest but she did find other ways to escape her suffocating life.
Edward and the Cullens move back to Forks as they did previous to the first novel, only Bella is already there. Edward is still a vampire with an Edwardian man's sensibilities, and he's still drawn inexorably to Bella, despite her pasttimes.

I think the author was lucky in her recreational drug use, & evidently so were her friends.
During my high school, a good looking popular male athlete who also happened to be a twin, keeled over in a heart attack in a national park with his brother & friends. He died instantly. Can you imagine being his twin, participating in drug use with him, having him die before your very eyes, carry his body off a campsite & down a trail to finally reach the national park's parking lot. Then, letting your parents know your twin brother died from illegal drug use sitting beside you on a log, in front of a campfire?
Mafia man Edward, has closed his heart off to everyone outside his family. He gets injured, and is helped by a young woman who seems to not like him. He then meets a young girl that tugs at his heart and he soon finds himself wanting to be something else so he can be worthy of them both.

My husband's nephew's (I would be considered his StepAunt by the family as I am the 2nd marriage wife) wife was previously married, she & her then husband discovered after their child was born they had a common gene which led to their child being born severely brain damaged & physically handicapped.
The husband/father could not handle or accept the situation, & he left, divorcing as quickly as he could.
Thank goodness for my husband's nephew who raised her son as his own, & had two healthy children with his wife after they married.
The oldest child, an adult now, must be cared for like a toddler, but he is as healthy as his medical condition, which can be severe at times, allows & is loved.
I'm enjoying the story :-)

If Jasper is Edward's solicitor/attorney, right now he stinks.
Edward needs an assertive attorney, he has the right to say, "No comment", until he's had a chance to map out his statements, what the police will report Edward as stating in court.
Edward needs to get his alibi/story lined up: what did he see when he went out, other cars he may have recognized driving by him, or cars he saw in parking lots, the same with any people he saw out & about as he drove; was he listening to a radio station, perhaps he heard nationally syndicated radio host Delilah do one of her dedication songs; did any of the neighbors notice anyone, a car later on the street, in the driveway- anything that might help in his eventual defense?

The Unknown POV was a bit difficult, hard to read, to follow. I could not determine what the man in question was stating so it was clear.
#1. how many men was Emily having sex with
#2. how long has the cheating been going on?
#3. Emily had sex with one single man, followed by a married man, which the unknown POV single guy saw- who are they both?
Have I got that right?
Edward & his father, being hospital trained physicians, are both well aware Edward must take photos of his injuries as part of a domestic abuse case, & to support his complaint against Emily.
It could also be used to support the filing of a restraint order against Emily, which Edward would be smart to do, & again is part of educating a domestic abuse victim when they come to the Emergency Department of a hospital.
Edward & his father, as hospital physicians know this!

the demeaning opinions of women made by the unknown narrator certainly hint towards James' own attitude.
But, I thought the narrator was unmarried by his comments, so James would be off the hook, leaving a third suspect?
Alice & Bella gave Edward a reprieve from his worries for the day, just what he needed.

Going a bit overboard when Bella knows Emily is a psych case without her ever appearing on the scene.
With Bella newly arrived, it has sent Emily over the wall due to jealousy & her own childless state.
i hope Bella won't be rude to her friends after all the much needed support they have given her, treated her child with LOVE.
it isn't fair to keep Alice from Rose & Em, they do love her, she has bonded with them.
Bella will be hurting her child by cutting off contact with the people who opened their arms & hearts to a little girl.
i hope Bella has the decency & maturity to explain she feels she must limit contact due to both Emily & Edward's unhappiness with her arrival, the distress it is causing Edward.
Otherwise, Bella just comes off as an ungrateful b*tch!

Question: The Cullens are human drinkers instead of "vegetarians", right?
Using donors, still preferring human blood.
As this Bella is on a personal mission to destroy vampires, I don't think her mind is willing to accept the Cullens just because they ransom/ rescue humans from othe vampires.
Bella would probably feel Jessica was defined by the money & by the "lures" vampires use to enthrall or capture their prey. For a Bella, Jessica would have been "brainwashed" to donate.
It will be interesting to see if Bella can learn to accept the non-vegetarian Cullens.

Yes, the Cullens drink human blood. It's one of the things she and the Cullens don't agree with. However, she tolerates them because they don't kill humans.
As for the money, the humans deserve to be compensated--a lot like what humans do with egg or sperm donation. The big difference was that vampires do see human beings as food. As other vampires see it, the Cullens are negotiating with humans like human beings negotiate with the cow.
