Just getting around to this one and other older stories of yours, because I love all I have read! My thoughts on this chapter are (1) he's not a very good officer if he ignored screams from next door, And (2) every state I know of requires by law, adults with knowledge of child abuse, no matter what profession or none, to report it to child protective services. Shape up, Edward!!
