VooDoo is a religion and HooDoo is a form of folk magic that came from West Africia with the slave trade and is primarily now only practiced in the Southern part of the US. I know they seem the same, but don't tell the practitioners of either that. :)

I've tired my hand at both - and my vampire ones come close to the erotic, but my back ground reading has always been supernatural, mystical or occult. I've tied to combine those elements in this series. I'm so happy you've found them.

You really are an LA police detective? Oh my. Well, just remember, please - this is a fictional tale. Even though my first husband was a small town cop and a CHP later. I know only what I've seen on tv LOL. You're a woman and as you know women have to work twice as hard for half the pay at any job. I'm 73 years old now and finally retired, but I've worked almost all of my life. Everyone goes through "dry spells" in their lives. But it's hard to believe they'd put you on leave for have a week of dry spells.

Yes I like Bella. BUT I don't keep to the canon all the time. This is not a story where they fall into bed together upon first meeting. It's a slow burn. There is an HEA though. :) Dispare not. Thank you for reading. This is a supernatural mystery with a little love thrown in - eventually.

I understand the responsibility of an author to make disclaimers. The mind is a very easily influenced part of our humanity. It thrives on information and invokes our emotions. Introducing ideas of other cultures can be interpreted much like a brick being throw through a homes window. It's invasive and causes fear. Rather than gleaning information and deducing a cohesive thought or conclusion, most dismiss it or even villianize it.
Having made that statement, I put my faith in other areas. I will also choose to sidestep anything that may jeopardize my beliefs.
I hope for Bella's sake that this new information can bring about a conviction. If not, as Edward mentioned before, the higher authority will find a way to remove this threat.

Yes there is. I've interviewed both practitioners. The Hoodoo worker uses more "things" while the Voodu practioner allows the "god" they are praying to to come into them and do the work that is needed to be done. I find both practices intimmidating to be honest and fascinating. I've studied the Western Esoteric Qaballa myself, and that's all mental work with not so much emotion as is or seems to be required by the two former religions.
