Yes, I think cooking is an awesome skill to have, particularly for a guy since it's a bit less common. Yes, his apparent intimate knowledge of the Glock freaked him out--he knows he would have to own one to know it that well. And being someone he won't be proud of is his worst fear, and this suggests things could go that way.
