I like the premise & story line but the writing seems choppy. It's not your usual style. Alice is a joke...her actions, dialogue, mannerisms all seem clownish and unrealistic. Tanya's appearance seemed forced and unneccesary unless she's a factor later on but in this chapter, it seemed like an add on.
Definitely something is going on but I don't think Mike is physically abusing Bella. I'm thinking its more psychological dependence or maybe drugs.

Great story so far. Bella and Mike do have a strange relationship but I'm not so sure it's abuse by him, I think maybe Bella could have been attacked or hurt by someone else and he's just overly protective...not sure though.

I am thinking that Bella may have been assaulted in the past, and has some PTSD. That may be why she is allowing his overprotective (also abusive) behavior-because she is scared all the time.

Well, Bella's screams are not from sex, but from being hurt. Mike reminds me of the husband in "Sleeping With The Enemy" (a guilty pleasure of mine)-he acts all attentive when others are around, and beats the shit out of her when they are alone. It is very satifying when she shoots and kills him at the end.

I think there are subtle signs but nothing concrete.
A little confused as to why Alice was at the police station when she initially mentioned the party. She certainly has cojones in trespassing on a police lieutenant's home in party planning!
i think Edward is going to have to "see it to believe it" if there's abuse going on. However, Mike being a cop, it may be more psychological & emotional abuse with limited physical abuse & he'd know how to hide the bruises.
