Time to pamper Isabella and have her enjoy her wedding day. The dress from Alexandrina was beautiful. It's no wonder women of that time were in such good shape physically, between the corsets restricting how much you could eat and the heavy dresses they wore they couldn't possibly get out of shape. Add in the life that the common people had and Isabella should have no problems keeping her shape.

Sorry, I really do enjoy this story, but this phrase originated with NASA. It broke the third wall for me because it doesn't fit. There are some anachronistic phrases you can get away with using in historical fiction, but this one killed me.
This fic is one of my DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) fics though. I really do love it.

Hiya,
I am sorry that I used this phrase here, because it upset you, and I hate that but in fact, it was actually said in several reference books from the victorian times, thanks to it being the height of the industrial revolution. The first time I saw it was when they made the first steam locomotive. It was only made famous by NASA, thanks to the radio and television.
This is the downside, I suppose, to times before world wide communication. Unless it was in a world famous book, it was missed. Now of course, phrases etc... are made famous in the blink of an eye with the internet etc....
I hope this has explained why I used the phrase as I have tried to stay as true to the times as possible and I hate it when I slip up lol.

I think I understand Isabella's confused state. Poor girl is jumping the lines of status as she prepares to be Edward's wife. Then the ominous job of physically satisfying her new husband looms heavy in her young inexperienced kind.
Esme's job as mother than female confidant to he sons new bride seems very awkward. I can't imagine my mother-in-law coaching me on how to respond to her sons baser needs. Haha, so uncomfortable!
