Yes I hope not as Renee would be all for Bella getting a chance at a life that doesn’t wear her to the bone.
Also I was a little perturbed how quickly Edward was going to dump her if he could get over the infatuation, not much loyalty there.
Thinking of nipping down to London for the season to snap up a debutant, then if he married one and found he still wasn’t over Bella, well I don’t think Bella is mistress material.
I imagine girls would throw themselves at him but their parents would have the greater say. The parents of the most eligible girls would want their daughter’s children to be the heirs in her marriage not her sons (their grandsons) be just the children of the second wife.
I hope Edward will develop admirable love and loyal feeling towards Bella as a worthy person in her own right not just a suitable female to fit the bill.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely story. I really enjoy Victorian era TwiFic. To me, at least, it seems that there isn't enough of it in the fandom ( not as well-written and compelling as yours, anyway).
I picture Bella and Charlotte getting along sweetly chatting about fairies in the garden and Alice joining them as well so that Esme can finally have many lovely daughters to enjoy... *sigh*
Very much looking forward to your update:) ~RoseE. xx

I really hope they will not have to wait a year. But I am really curious to see how you are going to get them around that.
Date: 09 Oct 2012 7:57 PM Title: Chapter 13
Thanks for the answer to the Queen Q:)
Oh man! LOL Lady Cullen, how rude! You dangle the apple in front of Edward and then tell him he can't court her for a year? rofl Cruel, cruel woman. *snicker*
Here's an odd question - if a couple were betrothed and a month before their nuptials one of their parents died. Would they have to wait the requisite year to marry? Or would they just marry quietly?
Date: 09 Oct 2012 7:15 PM Title: Chapter 13
Another wonderful chapter. I love that he is spending more time with his children, thinking already of how Charles will fit in with his children and hoping the Isabella will want to be their mother. So, if the Queen sees them together, say acting somewhat inappropriately, would that hurry things along? To save his and her reputation? Just wondering. See ya next time.

I could assume that even though that was the way things are suppose to be, people tended to bend the rules
Date: 09 Oct 2012 6:50 PM Title: Chapter 13
Lol about your hints... and to answer your question: I think not. :) It's not as if Bella won't be going into *town* for a whole year, after all... (no matter the propriety of the action; it's just the way it must work for her.) Very interesting! Thanks for writing!
Date: 09 Oct 2012 5:51 PM Title: Chapter 13
OMG, I almost die everytime that the chapters end in parts like this one.....
I can't wait to see Bella in Esme house and Edward drolling all over her!!!!
Date: 09 Oct 2012 5:33 PM Title: Chapter 13
They should but since they might have to work close together some lines may become blury.
I was impressed with how easily Edward and Esme talked about him courting Bella. I disn't expect her to be so open and him to react as he did. Not that I'm against it, on the contrary, I loved it.
Date: 09 Oct 2012 5:26 PM Title: Chapter 13
If you write it that way they won't, wink wink nudge nudge.
Date: 09 Oct 2012 5:24 PM Title: Chapter 13
Oh wow, that was amazing! I cannot wait to see what happens next! I really don't think they will wait a year before they begin courting ;) I couldn't!

Loved it :)
Date: 08 Oct 2012 1:53 AM Title: October 7th 1843
I do wonder though - Especially with Edward being the next Lord Cullen, his asignation with a girl of her status would not be born by the queen.
Can't wait to see how you deal with that one.

Date: 07 Oct 2012 2:57 PM Title: October 7th 1843
I loved this chapter and the teaser. Master Edward learning to milk a cow was too perfect and you wrote it where you could feel the electricity between them. And Lady Esme's comment at the end was just squeal worthy! I can't wait to read more.
Date: 07 Oct 2012 12:12 PM Title: October 7th 1843
At sixteen, I can only imagine, the flutters Bella's experiencing. Watching a handsome man, of upper class no less, disrobe in preparation to assist with the animals. She has no one to ask about these new thoughts and feelings. Bella needs a confidant.
Loving this story!
Date: 07 Oct 2012 10:34 AM Title: October 7th 1843
I just can imagine Lord Edward milking a cow. Very laughable but I'm sure the novelty wears off very quickly.
Date: 07 Oct 2012 10:20 AM Title: October 7th 1843
I love to learn so thank you. She just cant see him wanting her poor girl
Date: 07 Oct 2012 9:35 AM Title: October 7th 1843
Great, I am so glad that Edward is not concerned with Bella’s standing in society but sees her for the person she it. I can feel his admiration and fondness for her shining through.

I am enjoying your story so far. I like the fact you seemed to research the era well for it too. I am not sure if I missed it but hold is Charles? My guess is about ten. I am not sure if I missed or if it wasn't mentioned.

I dont think Renee will pull through I think she is giving up. Gooseberrys are very good done the right way. Esme has to make Bella go or she would not have.

Kids are so cute. I feel sad for Edward not being able to marry for love.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 6:19 PM Title: Chapter 11
Yes, Master Edward was kind and gentle with young Charles. It was refreshing to see Edward step up into a mentoring position to aid Charles in his time of distress.
I'm not sure the age difference will be a factor for Edward but it may cause Isabella to question his increasing interest in her.

That was heartbreking, I actually stood up and hugged my mom after finishing this chapter. I can't imagine the pain Bella must be feeling..

Love the part with Edward and Charles and what he told him about crying.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 6:33 AM Title: September 30th 1843
Great chapter I was so proud of Bella that she was able to be strong for her mother and tell her it was alright to go.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 4:56 AM Title: Chapter 11
That's something to see, I wonder if his mother will follow to watch and tell his father.
If Edward thinks Bella will agree, he will find out she won't. That will be interesting, but not as much as him milking cows.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 4:27 AM Title: Chapter 11
Thanks for the peak at the goodness and compassion of Edward. I knew he was in there somewhere, and the scene with Charles was a good example. Edward has just had a hardened wall of indifference built around himself so long, but he is getting to be very likable already.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 3:44 AM Title: Chapter 11
SO amazing :D I realy loved it! Edward, she isn't too young for you! I cannot wait for more!

Edward did melt my heart with little Charles. Loved it. It was sweet of Edward to pay for the funeral. He really has a lot of learning to do when it comes to Bella. lol.
Loved the teaser. I can not wait to see what happens when Edward tries to milk the cow. This has ought to be funny. lol. I wonder if he will end up on his a$$. lol. Can't wait for more and more and more.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 3:15 AM Title: September 30th 1843
Bless Bella's heart. I kind of wish that she and Renee would have gotten to have one more conversation and Bella would have gotten the chance to tell her mother about the dance and about Edward.

Edward is a good one. Can't wait for the next chapter:) He will win her whether she wants it or not.

Poor Bella, but we knew it was coming. I don't see Edward backing off, for he knows what loss is and how it feels.

So sad. Can't wait for the next chapter the teased looks good. The poem is one of my favorites.
Date: 01 Oct 2012 1:09 AM Title: Chapter 11
Edward fell fast for Bella, now he just have to convince her, hehehe, that will be a problem for Master Edward, hehehe, maybe milking some cows will help!!!
Date: 01 Oct 2012 12:55 AM Title: Chapter 11
It is sad Renee has died, she was a burden with no chance of recovery however she was still theoretically an adult authority.
Isabella is stubborn but not wholly capable of achieving much on her own. It is almost like Lord and Lady Cullen and now Edward as humouring her. She is a small girl and working like she has been will see her health suffering eventually plus she will be too exhausted for much forward thinking or planning and as stated she hasn’t much education.
Renee was a school teacher but that would have been before she married as even up to 100 years ago school teachers had to be single, were poorly paid and their social life or lack of it was scrutinized. I read a list of expectations for school teachers and some of the things included bringing coal for the fire and moping the floor after the class and to be in their lodgings by a very early hour, alone.
Telling a young boy he was the man of the house when there was no other male, even though he was incapable of taking charge, would just undermine the authority of any woman taking charge but I know it was the done thing but just goes to show how the male authority was never questioned and a boy to be head of the house was preferable to a woman.
Somehow though I think Charles thinking he is the head of the house but being dependant on his sister and Emmett is somewhat similar to Bella thinking she is running the farm but being dependant on Lord and Lady Cullen.
Nevertheless as hard as she is working as long as she is allowed to maintain her autonomy she is living a more satisfying life than a woman that is producing babies, never consulted, domineered and expected to follow orders like most married women, particularly the wives of the more wealthy.
I think that Edward will admire her tenacity and self reliance.

Edward was so sweet and tender with Charles.
Date: 30 Sep 2012 6:50 PM Title: Chapter 11
Poor little Charles. Edward's words were perfect and exactly what Charles needed to hear. He needed to know that crying and mourning the loss of his mother was not a sign of weakness. Edward is a wonderful man, father and will make an amazing husband for Isabella. I know, I'm jumping the gun but little Charles would have children to play with as well as Edward to teach him how to be a gentleman and a wonderful person. Looking forward to reading the chapter with him milking cows. That will be perfect!

Just watching that movie "The others" was a little creppy, I can't imagine how it was a long time before that!!!
Poor Bella, having to grow up at such a young age...
Date: 30 Sep 2012 3:11 PM Title: September 30th 1843
I thinknthe chapter worked really good with just that one picture. It was solemn, while not being too harsh.
You can " prepare" yourself for loosing a loved one, but it will never be enough. I hope Bella allows herself to lean on the help the Cullens will want to give her and Charles.
Date: 30 Sep 2012 1:56 PM Title: September 30th 1843
I kind of figured that Renee would pass away before anything could really develop between Edward and Isabella. He will be even more protective of her and with both of them coming to her while she is still freshly dealing with this, she will lean on them more than if she had to deal with it alone from the very beginning. She will appreciate the support with the changes in the farm and the loss of her mother all at the same time.
Date: 30 Sep 2012 1:45 PM Title: September 30th 1843
Edward should give her a big hug JS

Date: 30 Sep 2012 12:08 PM Title: September 30th 1843
As time passes maybe Bella will look back at the moment her mother saw her in Esme's dress and smile knowing she would make her mother proud. Taking the lessons learned and assist her little brother with becoming a proper young man.
I hope Edward's experience with loss is a comfort to both Isabella and Charles.
Esme was sneaky in asking for Edward to accompany her. But he is already intrigued by the young woman.

I know we are all spoiled with getting two chapters in one day but please don't make us wait a week. Ywas a well written chapter and yes it was needed.
