Great story. I think Edward actually realizes that Tanya is manipulating him, but he's afraid of his attraction to Bella, and Tanya is familiar and (dare I say) easy. What is interesting is that not only is his physical attraction for Tanya waning, it seems that he honestly doesn't even "like" her very much anymore. In a way, Tanya is his human shield helping him fend off his feelings for Bella. I hope that he becomes strong enough to deal with his feelings for Bella soon, or Tanya/human shield may just manipulate Edward into a situation he doesn't want to be in.

I think you're right, and Edward is afraid of his attraction to Bella. However, his ambivalence towards Tanya is starting to turn to outright dislike - which will come to a head in chapter 9. Once she's out of the way, the dynamic between Edward and Bella will change, just you wait and see.

Tanya is such a skanky shrew! I am hoping Edward will wake up soon and toss her aside like the trash she is. Wow, that sounded harsh, but I just hate seeing Bella and Edward suffer - even if it is Edward's own doing. It was like he was so close to getting rid of her and then nada. I am curious how long he will be able to resist Bella. It is pretty obvious (well to everyone except Edward) how he feels for her. You know he has it bad when the wicked witch of the west picks up on it and feels threatened. Someone needs to by poor Edward a clue and soon before we all combust.

Wow. So if we thought Kate was a bitch... check out this creature named Tanya. But it is a good thing she showed up. Dinner is going to be interesting... If they end up going at all. Everything Tanya does just points out how much better Bella is.
Besides... he can't just not respond to what Bella said. I mean... he eventually has to tell her that he is going to marry her. (or not... although, I think he will.) Possibly when she throws out the idea that she is going to marry someone else because he has no interest in marrying her. (Put anything under pressure and it will either bend or break right?)
I hope she catches him looking at her. I hope he yells at her for dressing like that (or should I say not dressing at all) in his house. I hope she rants back at him... naked. Because he has a hard enough time keeping his hands off her when she is clothed. Them arguing while she is naked... that would lead to fantastic lemony things. =)
Small question/wondering. I would love to know what Edward was thinking when she mentioned that she cooked with her mum. He seemed to be in deep thought about something by the way you described him. Also what he was thinking after she made him the omelette and he moaned. He then smirked at her and she got flustered so she jumped up and dumped the plates in the sink. What was he thinking when he was smirking? I mean... he couldn't possibly know what she was thinking and the reaction she was having... could he?
Another fantastically written, well described chapter. It almost made me forgive you for the way the last one ended... almost. Hurray for the early update! Can't wait for the next one Liz.

Love your reviews, Chandler. Yeah, Tanya pretty much knocks Kate into a cocked hat when it comes to bitchiness, but she'll get her comeuppance eventually. As to whether Bella will catch him, I guess you'll find out on Wednesday.
On your questions, at the time of writing, I felt that when Bella mentioned her mum, it would have given Edward pause for thought; not just about the fact that he missed Charlie and Renee, but that Bella, too, must really miss them - something he hasn't let himself consider too much before. And when he smirked at her, it wasn't that he knew what she was thinking - like canon Edward, he's got no hope of that - I think it was more about the fact that he was enjoying the shared moment of being at ease with one another. Little did he know that Bella was feeling from from at east by then.

I hope next chapter talks more about SP cause I think that that's really interesting. Crikey, you've given this a lot of thought LOL! Well, you might be right about broken promises and the whole perception thing, but that won't be for a few chapters. As for SP, there's going to be more about that as well, but again, not for 2 or 3 chapters. Next chapter will definitely have some UST, but I'm afraid Edward didn't overhear the girls' conversation - which is probably just as well, as he's wound up enough, I think!

Wow, Edward was really pissed and can't quite blame him, but I can also understand why Bella wanted to be with her friends, even though they could have done something besides getting drunk. It seems like Bella might drink so she doesn't have to think about what's going on in her life. Right now she feels like Jess and Lauren are the only family she has, someone that loves her. She feels like Edward has left her down. I am curious has to what Edward wants Bella to promise and what his promise is in return. And who will be the first one to break their promise? 2 updates a week would be wonderful because I am really lovin' this story.

Kate has a crush on Edward (of course), and although she knows about Tanya, she's harboured hopes, knowing that he may not be that invested in his relationship. But she was shocked to discover that what she expected to be Edward's mousy schoolgirl ward turned out to be a hot young babe, and she reacted badly and very stupidly. But don't worry, the silly bint won't feature much going forward. The whole corporate intrigue is much more worrisome and will be a major part of the story going forward. Really glad you like the English element - it was important to me to exploit that angle.

Moving on... This was sooo good. Edwards reaction to her was perfect! I agree with ecullensgirl1... he made a HUGE mistake in telling her about the marriage clause. She is going to work that to her advantage. =) At least thats what I'm hoping for.
You descriptions are fantastic. I can see everything completely in my mind. From the way Bella looks, to Edwards house, to their expressions, and everything else in between. I feel like I am there watching it as it all unfolds.
