He's already guilty of a federal crime, felony kidnapping, and at best a misdemeanor for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. If he has sex (of any kind) with her he's adding statutory rape to the list. Edward needs to call the cops and the airline immediately. If they're able to confirm that James took Bella across state lines it's all over for him - the Feds will chew him up and spit him out in Federal prison. And Edward will be given legal rights over Bella beyond his guardianship to prevent her from doing harm to herself and others. Not that she hasnt pretty thoroughly flushed her life and future down the crapper as is.

I don't hate Edward! I actually think he's in the right to be honest, I mean, she wants him to treat her like an adult, but she's given him no reason. Every time something happens, instead of letting him explain it, she fucks off and makes things all the worse. Did he let her off easily? What should he have done? Spank her and lock her in her room?! I think the cruelty of his words were more than adequate punishment. As for Rose, the least of his worries is that she lied to him. The fact is that she is an excellent assistant, regardless of his personal relationship with her, and even if he wanted to fire her, which he certainly doesn't, he would be legally at fault as he would have no grounds for doing so within the context of her work and she could certainly sue him for wrongful dismissal.
All that said, I'm really happy to see that you are so invested in the story that it moves you to such an emotional response, and I do hope you continue to enjoy future chapters. Next one up later today.
