While reading the scene where the Blacks were in the Swan house, I suspected Bella would figure out herself that Edward is Edward, just not all the details. Never suspected a picture would be involved tho:)
Great chapter! And, yes, in this specific situation I think it would be prudent of Bella to go along with Edward's request to stay away from the wolves - if he made it:)

Charlie. Ah, Charlie. I really like Charlie. Charlie is in a very odd position, I think. On one hand, his teenage daugther has her first boyfriend, not something any father looks forward too. But I'm allowing Charlie a little selfishness. He is the mate of a vampire himself, so he knows it's not a platonic relationship--regardless of what Edward's best intentions were. But, he also knows what it's like to have the person who's vowed to love you always change their mind and walk away. As much as no father relishes the thought of his daughter having a physical relationship with a boy, he knows that mated to a vampire, Bella will never know what it's like to have your spouse fall out of love with her and walk out on her. I think that would be a very powerful motivator to turn a blind eye to somethings that with--say, Mike Newton--would have him drawing his service revolver. The little bit of selfishness I'm allowing him is that he also knows it means he won't loose her, he'll get to keep both of the women he loves.
I can't see Bella coming to the realization that Edward is Edward without something forcing her. Reincarnation or something like that, OK, but that it's actually him, I just think that's too much, even with her experience with the impossible.
I agree about the wolves. I could never understand why, in canon, Bella couldn't see the potential danger of the wolves. Emily didn't cut her own face up.

When she was about to open the attachment, just like Bella, my heart was pounding. I used to think she was so dense for not realising the similarities between both Edwards but now I know that deep inside she knew it all along. I confess I never expected her to be so accepting but I guess she is just like Charlie. Now I am desperate for the next chapter - 'the aftermath'.

I don't know about all along, but I think very recently her subconscious caught on. The conscious mind has to battle through things like logic which the subconscious mind is free from. She could accept the letters traveling between the two of them because she had concrete, or rather paper, proof in her hands. I think she needed that same level of proof to accept that Edward really is her Edward.
As for accepting.... She's only just laid eyes on the picture, she hasn't quite gotten around to anything beyond "He's alive. He's here." That'll come next.

Dont know what to say. Fantastic. I didn't read the teaser so this came pretty much out of nowhere and I totally loved it. The photo is much better than Edward telling her. Thrilled to bits that she knows, well something at least. Also thrilled that this is an extra, not instead of the weekend, that would have killed me ! I am going to be thinking of this until I read the 'aftermath' as you called it, imagining their conversation.
The Quileutes must be so frustrated and furious to see another Swan becoming committed to a Cullen, wonder if they will actually do anything about it.

Honestly, the possibility of Edward telling her never even occurred to me. This was what I had planned to happen from day one, both the manner of her finding out and when. She needed to accept that there was something going on before finding out Edward is Edward. I think to hit her with that before she was ready would've thrown her for too much of a loop.
There really isn't anything the Quilleutes can do, other than beg them to see their side of things, which is pretty much pointless. But, no, Jacob is very not happy.

Edward forgot he was wet from the rain too. Of course, he held the umbrella over Bella rather than himself.
Yes, Edward is THE Edward, but to a human's eyes, he's also a predator. I think his fear that she would be afraid of him if she was to be told the truth is natural. Unfounded, of course. But I can see him worrying about it, especially with as hard on himself as Edward is.

Yes, Edward has red her letters to him. That was how he knew about the poem she sent him after his father died. But he's never been in her room, other than when he helped carry their desk in, so he's never seen his letters to her.

You'll learn all about the flower soon. I thought that was something Edward would do. I originally had a scene in my head where Bella (after learning the truth) just casually mentions being surprised he'd found a florist open between when they left the hospital last night and the so early the next morning. Edward answered that they weren't exactly. She asked "exactly what?" and Edward reluctantly answers "open." But I just couldn't get it in there where I was happy with it.

Bella is definitely putting clues together. At times like right now due to her injury and once in another chapter when she's waking up, when her mind is not fully conscious and limited by "reality," her two Edwards merge into one in her mind. It won't be long before she learns the truth, it's only a few chapters away now.

Did they have SWAT teams in 1918? Must google it. Whatever did we do before we had the internet? Bella didn't date her letters, but she did tell Edward the date in one of them. I don't know. There could be tactical advantages both ways. Profit with foreknowledge or altering the past. What if you could've gotten info to someone in September 1929 to take their money out of the bank and stock market? I guess in 1918 there wouldn't have been much point because by that time, Edward was already gone, so I'd have to go with February 25, 2009. I think that was the date Bella gave Edward.

Gotta love loopholes when they work in your favor right? 80 and 18 sould so much alike, that I think it fits that Jacob would mistake the year she said with her speech being slurred. I think he would hear 1980 because its closer to his own time, and he has no idea of the importance of the year 1918.
Full disclosure is getting close, but.... Oh, well, you'll see soon enough! In the meantime, Edward and Bella grow closer. I hope it will be enough to keep you all entertained until the cat is let out of the bag!

I'm definitely pulling for vampire Charlie! I think I should start a letter writing campaign in favor of vampire Charlie. They could reshoot the end of the movie, right?
Charlie reacting to the cut on her hand in August was meant to be a little confusing at the time and the later, "Oh, that was why.... OK, now I get it." Same with when the rental car agent tripped and skinned his knee when he and Tanya went to Phoenix. He understood the blood would um, bother her.
I absolutely loved the "Communing with nature. Enjoying the wildlife" line. It was one of my favorites, so I'm glad you commented on it! You're the first person who did. Woohooo! Go you!
I'm pretty sure the movie that line about the jeans is from was Erin Brockovich, but I never saw the movie, and I couldn't find the quote online. I thought it fit the scenario perfectly. Even if Edward can't remember his human life, I think he is still very much a product of the era he lived in. Even though he's also lived through all the ensuing social changes, I think he is still very much an Edwardian era man. Could you just imagine his shock at his mate saying something like that? But like I said, he has lived through all the social changes of the 20th century, so I think that shock would be tempered. I hope you didn't choke.
As for the truth popping into her head... I'm afraid you'll have to wait and see what happens, but it's only a few chapters away. In the meantime, Edward and Bella grow closer. I hope it will be enough to keep you all entertained until the cat is let out of the bag!

The clues are building up. But remember, we're already in mid-February, so Bella's been there for several weeks already. The clues are building up, but they're spaced out. It's not a daily thing. I don't think Edward can help himself, really. Even if he can't yet admit it, he wants her to know him. The big reveal, so to speak, is only a couple chapters away now! Oh, yes. She will ask. The question is, what will Edward answer?
I don't think Edward is lacking in courage. I think he is genuinely repulsed by himself, and truly believes Bella deserves better than he can give her. I think he's got self-esteem issues, but his courage is just fine.
Bella will run the whole gamut of emotions when she finds out the truth, which is only a couple chapters away!

I still battle with the misunderstandings between E&B. As I told you before, I find it difficult to accept them, they seem a little contrived. (did Bella hear sentences like "I did not die?" and what did she do with them?) It is, however, your story, not mine and it still keeps me hooked.
Of course to be able to conceive what happened to Edward would not be easy for a normal person, but the fact that she was able to communicate with a man of the past through an anciente desk means that she is more prepared than most to accept the "impossible".
