What a lovely chapter, I just love Charlie, always have! He gave Bella the same answer most of us would have, I think.  He's going to wring every drop of happiness from this gift he's been given, but won't hurt Renee, even to be with his beloved daughter forever! I too wonder what he is going to say to Edward? Happy 2014 to you as well!

That scene in the Swan home was pretty bad, until Maggie Jones took things in hand and straightened Charlie out! It must have devestated Edward to hear what happened to Bella, but better he knows. Poor Edward, it had to happen sooner or later. You can't live around that kind of love and not want it for yourself. Edward had only the memories of the love he and Bella shared to comfort him in his solitude. Can't say as I blame him for leaving.

Until next time...here's a peek at Edward's next chapter:

"Shh, Daddy, it's okay." Bella's voice was soft and soothing. "It's okay."

Panicked, my focus instantly switched to Renee, her mind still foggy as her medically aided sleep held her under. Mrs. Jones stirred but her dreams still played strongly in her mind. I breathed a sigh of relief as my mind shifted back to Bella.

I couldn't see anything in the room but I could hear them - Charlie continually repeating her name and Bella apologizing for leaving. It hurt me to hear their broken sobs knowing I was the cause of all their pain, but it helped, if only a little, to know I could give them this moment before his illness took him away.

Just then, the room came into view as Charlie opened his eyes. I watched though his vision as he pulled Bella away from him and held her shoulder, not allowing her to move too far from him.

"My sweet girl, you're home."

Author's Response:

Edward proposing to Bella was more instinct than anything else. It was all a mixture of the perfect time and place and feeling. She was already wearing his ring so it all worked out the way it should. And yeah, I had that picture of Edward on Bella's back in my head and couldn't stop laughing. I had to use it. Author's Response:

I'm glad you liked it and I am so, so sorry it's taken so long to get this next chapter posted. Timing differences and personal issues keep it from me for a while. Now, you mentioned his faith, that's the one thing I never took from Edward. His faith was always impressed upon him as a human and Carlisle nurtured that after his change. So, in my world, it's something he'll never lose. As for Bella's diet, Edward has reluctantly accepted her choice but, knowing how he truly feels about it, she is undecided. We'll see what happens when she finally makes her choice. Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it and I hope to never be gone this long again. Much love - D

Picking myself up off the floor, I took another steadying breath before rushing downstairs. Bella's quiet sobs hit me as I opened the back door and I was kneeling at her side in an instant.

"Bella," I whispered.

She was so lost in her grief she actually jumped when I touched her shoulder. Her face was marred by sorrow and I couldn't stop myself from pulling her into my arms. Her body molded to mine as she buried her head in my shoulder and cried.

Running my hands through her hair, I whispered soft, soothing words, hoping to settle her tears. I didn't know how much time had passed before she calmed, nothing left but tiny whimpers of grief. She was so still, had she been human, I would have believed she'd cried herself asleep. Though, just as the thought passed through my mind, she spoke.

"Please, Edward."

If I wasn't so focused on her, I would have missed it, but I didn't. I heard those two devastatingly heartbroken words loud and clear.

Edward should let Bella say goodbye. He's going to die so who will find out

Author's Response:

Edward's not being as unreasonable as some people think. He's lived with Carlisle telling him true stories about the Volturi and he's terrified of them finding Bella and killing her for revealing their secret. Bella, on the other hand, has really only heard stories and doesn't always believe the truth in them because the person relaying the stories was never there in person. Her lack of belief and her concern for Charlie are driving her desire to see him. Edward's not keeping her away to be cruel. He just wants her to be safe. He will do what's right, though. "Really?" I drew back to look him in the eye.

I could see the sadness he tried to hide and I knew he was doing it for me. Edward loved my father and his illness had to hurt him just as much as it did me, but he tried to be strong. For me, he would always be strong.

"What was it like?" he asked again.

"I was terrified," I admitted with a shaky laugh. "So many cars, so many people and I had nowhere to go."

The arm he had around my waist loosened as I put a bit of distance between us.

"Mrs. Jones gave me ten dollars when I left but it wasn't enough. After a few days I was living in the street. I slept in alleys and stole food when I needed to eat."

"Oh Bella."

Hearing what I went through, the distance between us disappeared as Edward brought me back into his arms. Resting my forehead against his chest, I continued.

"I don't know how I made it as long as I did. I was scared and alone until..." My words trailed off as I remembered the day I met Lizzy, Johnny and Jack.

"Until what?" Edward urged.

"Until they found me."

Author's Response:

Until next time...are you ready for something a little more playful? Here's a peek at Edward's next chapter, which will be up later today:

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" I growled low into her ear.

A low growl rumbled in her chest as she exhaled and leaned back into me. "We've been climbing trees since we were ten and you're worried now. Now that I can't be hurt."

"The trees we climbed when we were ten didn't have you hundreds of feet above ground."

"We, my love," she twisted to kiss me quickly, "are indestructible. I could jump from this tree and the only thing to get hurt would be the ground beneath my feet."

"I just worry about you," I admitted.

"Don't."

She turned to straddle the branch, lifting an arm around my neck and resting her other hand on my arm. Her smile was gone.

"I've lived through so much already; falling from a tree is nothing in comparison."

"But I could have kept you from all of that. If I'd been here, I could have saved you from so much pain." I touched her cheek. "I will make up for that. I'll make up for every bit of pain you suffered."

"By keeping me out of trees." Her smile returned. "You've lived a sheltered life haven't you?"

Finally is right! Bella was giving me whiplash! I felt so bad for Edward. I hope things will be better for them now. I can't wait to see what is next. Great job....thanks!!!

Author's Response:

Someone actually referred to her as "Bipolar Bella" and, I guess, that description is pretty accurate. My girl is still a little messed up but, trust me, Edward's working on that part. Give him some time; he'll get his Bella back...kind of. hehe Thanks for he review. I really appreciate it. Much love - D

I am glad that Bella is giving Edward a chance.  I like your twist on Edward being able to hear Bella if she wants him to.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you liked it. Thankfully, Bella came to her senses before it was too late. And I like that Edward can only hear Bella when she wants to speak to him through their mental connection. It's definitely going to come in handy later in this story. Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it. Much love - D

Yay! We have some happy people. It's finally starting to form nicely. I think Bella will still have issues but that just seems to be her. Maybe drinking animals will calm her down.

Author's Response:

Progress is a good thing and they are definitely making some good headway here. They've still got a few bumps in the road that they'll need to work out before they can be truly happy, but they're finally on the right path. My fingers made a path across the map to the east coast of Maine, to the black dot covering the very spot Garrett and I walked into the ocean.

"A friend of Garrett's found us in the mountains and while they spoke, the man told him of his recent trip to Europe. Knowing Victoria was still hunting me, Garrett thought it would be the perfect time to take me away.

"We left from here," I said with a grin, remembering our fun on the beach. "I wanted to travel by ship, our own personal buffet, but Garrett wouldn't allow it. He knew I couldn't be confined that way so he brought me to this point and we swam the ocean to get there."

I turned to Edward and his eyes were wide with a look of surprise.

"Didn't you know we could swim like that?" I asked excitedly. "It was amazing, Edward. Someday I'll take you..."

"Darling. Are you awake?"

My father's voice rang through the air and my head snapped toward the sound. Edward's hands were on me immediately and I reached out for him, holding myself against him to keep from running for the door.

"Don't let me go," I whispered.

"Never," he whispered back.

"You mocked me before but I was afraid of the Italians, Bella. They're vicious men and I was terrified of what they would do to you if they found out you knew our secret."

"But you could have changed me, Edward. We would have been safe."

"I couldn't ask you to give up..."

I was in front of him in a flash with a hand covering his mouth. Our eyes locked and his face blurred as the venom filled my eyes.

With more emotion than I thought myself capable of, I whispered, "I gave my life to you when you were alive." My hand slid to his cheek. "What made you think I wouldn't have given you forever if you asked for it?"

Slowly, his hand covered mine.

"I wanted that," he whispered back. "I wanted you...so much that I couldn't stay away any longer. But when I came back you were gone."

Author's Response:

Edward's fever was definitely high but he was thinking of her when he died. Memory loss is just one of those things that can happen after the change and they won't remember until something triggers the memories. That's what happened to Edward and that's what he should have explained to her instead of blurting out the one sentence that was sure to hurt her. There was no way to explain it to you without telling you the truth and doing so would have ensured your death." A horrified expression crept across his face.

But when I came back you were gone."

damn shes being a bitch to him!!!!!!!!!!

Author's Response:

I know Bella's behavior isn't what everyone's hoped for but you have to remember that she's had to live through a lot of let downs and more than her fair share of tragedies and she is very, very wounded. She really does want to hear Edward out but she's having a hard time getting past the hurt and hard times she's faced. It's going to be a rocky road but a true reconciliation is coming. Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it. Much love - D

Author's Response:

Yeah, I think Edward should have chosen his words a little better. Bella is definitely not going to be happy. I'm just curious how no one has heard screaming and yelling coming from the house that's been empty for the past fourteen years. That would be a little suspicious, I think. LOL. great chapter....so glad that she seems to be letting go of some of her anger :)  Can't wait to read more!!!

Author's Response:

I'm glad you liked it. Bella's a complete mess right now and her thoughts and emotions are at war with each other. Her anger is going to come and go and poor Edward is going to have his hands full with her, but once they're really able to talk things will get better for them. It's just going to take time. Thanks, as always, for your review. I really, really love hearing what you think. Love you tons - D

Until next time...here's a peek at Edward's next chapter, which will be up later today:

"Maggie?" Bella's quiet voice startled me.

"Mrs. Jones," I answered her. She lifted her confused eyes to meet mine. "You and I spent our entire childhood with that woman and had no idea she and your father were best friends."

I smiled when Bella's brow creased.

"How do you know this?"

My smile faded, knowing this would be where it started. I had promised her the absolute truth and that was what I would give her. It wasn't a difficult question but I knew my Bella would be upset by my answer. And I'd learned enough about the girl in my arms now to know that she wouldn't take the news lightly and I braced myself for a fight.

Hoping to keep her violent side at bay, I spoke in the calmest voice possible. "The first year I came home, I overheard a horrible argument between the three of them. Your father was so angry, more so than I'd ever heard in my life. He was yelling at your mother and when Mrs. Jones stepped in to defend her, he turned his anger on her."

"You're lying!" Her fist hit me hard and in a flash, she was across the room. "My father has never yelled at my mother and neither of my parents have ever said a cross word to Mrs. Jones. What could possibly cause them to argue?"

I didn't want to say it. I didn't want to hurt her again and it was inevitable that my words would do just that. I steeled myself for her wrath.

"They were arguing about you."

Bella is going through so much. I guess she has to get through her hurt of losing Edward before she can really be happy that she has him again. She is going to have to listen to what he has to say at some point. She has to see that he thought he was doing what was best for her. I hope she holds on to the thought she had about how they could now be together for eternity. I love this as always. Great job...thanks so much!!!

Author's Response:

Bella's thoughts and emotions are going haywire right now. It's to be expected, though, when everything she thought she knew turned out to be a lie and the boy she thought was dead was suddenly standing in front her expecting her to still love him like nothing had changed. But through it all, her heart really does know the truth. It's her head that puts up one hell of a fight. They're going to go through plenty of struggles and fights before the whole truth comes out and Bella is able to trust and believe in Edward again. Then the love she still has for him will come to the surface and they can be happy again. Thanks, as always, for your review. I really, really love hearing what you think. Love you tons - D

Author's Response:

It is sad to hear that you're not going to be reading any more, but this story is what it is. My Bella just wasn't going to run into Edward's arms and be all loving after all the pain she's been through. That wouldn't be realistic with her character. A growl rumbled deep in my chest as Edward's scent pulled me from my thoughts. Turning my back to the shed, I scanned the darkness. I couldn't see him but I knew he was close.

"Don't take another step, Edward," I warned, knowing he could hear me.

I heard his footsteps come to a halt as silence hung in the air. A few minutes passed as I searched the area around me. He was nowhere to be seen but I could feel him out there.

"Please let me help, Bella." His voice sliced through the darkness.

"I don't need your help."

"Don't shut me out, Angel."

My eyes closed for a split second as the old name brought more memories of our lives together.

"I watched my father die, Bella," he continued. "I know how you feel."

"How long have you known, Edward?" I hissed, ignoring his last comment. "How long did you watch my father suffer before you came to find me?"

God if the guy she was with before comes back or she goes after him im gonna be pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Author's Response:

Aww hun, believe me you don't have to worry about another guy. The only one that would have had a chance was Garrett and he was killed by the wolves. Besides, Edward and Bella belong together. She may not see it right now but given time, Edward will bring his girl back. Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it. Much love - D

Until next time...here's a peek at Bella's next chapter, which will be up later today:

A growl rumbled deep in my chest as Edward's scent pulled me from my thoughts. Turning my back to the shed, I scanned the darkness. I couldn't see him but I knew he was close.

"Don't take another step, Edward," I warned, knowing he could hear me.

I heard his footsteps come to a halt as silence hung in the air. A few minutes passed as I searched the area around me. He was nowhere to be seen but I could feel him out there.

"Please let me help, Bella." His voice sliced through the darkness.

I'm sooooo glad they are together, and so sad that Bella is so messed up!

Author's Response:

Bella's been in a lot of pain for a very long time. It's gonna take some time and a lot of love from Edward to get over that. Have faith. He'll do his best to bring his girl back. Thanks for the review. I really, really appreciate it. Much love - D

Wow, I didn't see that coming. I am glad he finally found her. I am so sad that Charlie is sick. This is going to be do hard in Bella. I can't wait to see what she does. Edward has to get through to her. It is going to be hard though. She is so angry. Great job...thanks so much!!!

Author's Response:

I know it wasn't the reunion you expected but Bella has a lot of things she blames Edward for, some more justified than others, but it's going to take her a while to see that. In her eyes, Edward's got a lot to make up for and a lot of explaining to do. Once he gets his truth out there, though, she can finally start to heal. But that's still going to take some time. The only thing I can say is, at least they're together now and nothing is going to tear them apart again. As for Charlie, it kills me that he's dying but it's the way it has to be. But think positive, it's going to be the one thing that allows Bella to feel love again and that feeling will only help Edward and Bella in the long run. Thanks, as always, for the review, darlin. I love seeing your name pop up after I post a chapter. You always give me the best reviews. Love you tons, bb - D

Thank you for updating.  Been waiting for this chapter for so long.  This Bella is so different from human Bella and it was so strange to see how she reacted to Edward.

Author's Response:

Honestly, if you think about it, her reaction isn't that surprising if you consider her character since she had been changed. She was faced with someone who was supposed to be dead and she thought it was a trick of some kind. Like he was some impostor sent there to hurt her and she wanted to kill him before he got the chance. When Edward finally got through to her, though, he opened up a world of hurt that had been in her heart for years and he was going to pay the price. It's going to be a hard fight for her to come back but Edward isn't going to give up on her. Thanks for the review, darlin. I really appreciate it. Much love - D
