There was a small mistake:

I believe you mean to say that they didn't like to think about their own MORTALITY. (in other words, the fact that they are mortal and will die, as opposed to immortality which refers to living forever.)
I normally try not to point out every little typo, etc. unless it might be confusing to a reader. I hope this is helpful.
