It was a surprise. He had that part of him truly dormant. Bella woke it up, and with what force!! Edward seems more than willing and ready to explore that part of him with Bella, and she isn't too reluctant to give some of it a try. They were just ready to get a start when they were interrupted. I assume not much went wrong since what we read was Edward's flash back.
When did she or will she notice and say something about the necklace?

Bella's idea, is really great and it surprised Edward and Esme. Too see Bella putting that kind of effort in the relationship, says a lot about her, and it's all good. She wants Carlie to feel part of things, to realize she won't be left out. Then Esme's idea of Bella getting her the thighs, also really good.

Emmett's plan of going to get Bella was really good. He knew she would be doing something similar to what Edward was doing. So he just gave them a little push in the right direction. It seems he will leave the rest of the pushing to Carlie. And he will have extra help, it seems.

Emmett really made an effort to push Edward on Bella's path, and the girls are doing the same with Bella. Neither of them had the guts to get moving, but appreciated the help.
It seems they more than enjoyed their day together and wouldn't mind spending more time with each other.
There is the parent/teacher aspect to consider, and of course Carlie. Although something tells me, she wouldn't mind too much.

I do hope you keep posting. I like the plot. A fresh start for Bella, her life hasn't been perfect, but she is trying to move on and make the best out of it. She has reasons to feel sad, but she is looking to be happy instead. That's a great thing.
Edward has had his share of sorrow and now seems focused on his daughter and his job; at least until he met Bella by chance. Now Emmett is set on getting them together, and Edward isn't too against the idea.
