Well, Jasper has amnesia. How convenient for him. He was the protect of Alice when she was little, and now he is the cruel, evil man who captured Alice for the Volturi.
Jacob, Jacob, Jacob....That poor man is so love with Bella it hurts. He most definately is very intuative. He knew that Aro would be the hand to punish Bella, and of course, unfortuantly, he was correct. I also think that Jacob is jealous of Edward's proximity to Bella.
I love the way that Carlisle defended his children eventhough he still thinks that what they do is monsterous. If it was not for Carlisle and his sons thing most definately would be 1000 time worse than it is now. It is so sweet that Carlisle is crushing on Esme. I honestly think that she has the same feelings as well, but she is more concerned for her ladies at this present time.
I love how Edward is furious that they have pulled him away from Bella to tend to Jasper, but they do not know at the time what Aro has done to Bella. I am so glad that he told them what happened to Bella, and why he did not need to be there to help Jasper because he needed to get back to tending to Bella.
Rose is always the spitfire. She threatens everyone. Love her!!
Emmett is completly clueless to what has been happening around him. He takes things so in stride that it is almost scary.
I am so ready to get back to Edward and Bella. I know that Edward loves Bella, but when is Bella going to love Edward back?

Bella does love Edward back, but she just feels it doesn't make sense because she's only known him for three days. This is why she didn't want to tell him point blank, but she will eventually admit her feelings to him.

This has been really helpful, yes we do miss E&B but we needed to hear from Carlisle and the rest. Things are not any fine, they might be about to get better, if they all find a way to talk calmly. If it's possible to settle certain things, perhaps they might be able to find a way to not only escape but get rid of the Volturi.

I could have done like sheviking and "frencherize" the names, but I just decided to give them some nice nobility names with a French resounding. Don't forget that when I started this story, I didn't know I would translate it in English and my readership remains mostly French.

Perhaps the flashback sequence could be exposed more like a "dream" sequence, which could be made up of bits of mermory Jsaper sees during his come. As it is, the sequence feels a little bit disconnected. We see where this is going at the end, but there could be hint when the sequence begins as well. What I mean is the sequence might be more efficient if we understand that it is built of Jasper's memories, instead of it reading like it is coming directly from the past.
Just a suggestion. Otherwise the story is very provocative. Not sure the terms "sexual predator" were in much use at the time...

There's a limit to what I can do in terms of using the vocabulary that they used at the time. I want the readers to feel a connection with the story, too. As for your suggestion, it so happens that in an upcoming chapter, there will be another bit of Jasper's past recounted as a dream.

Yes, the borders between France and Italy were different at the time, but the Volturi's lands are touching the Mediterranean Sea. It's a place hard to imagine with the nowadays maps, not to mention that it never really existed...

I have a very easy way to proceed: one week I work on the translation (one chapter in French becomes two chapters in English most of the time) and one week I write from scratch. So I send 2 chapters to my beta every other week, but the thing is, she may also take 2 weeks to edit one of the two chapters I send her, so even if I sent her chapters 27 and 28 two weeks ago, it may take another 2 weeks for her to edit chapter 28, and by then I will have sent her chapter 29. No matter what, I always send her my chapters every other week, and I'm always waiting for them to come back to me with the corrections. My beta is a very busy person, whereas all I do when I'm home is writing, cooking, reading... and do the taxi for my kids. My French readers never have to wait more than 2 weeks for an update because I don't need a beta in French and I can post my chapters as soon I'm done writing them.
It also has to be said that this story is one of the most popular on the French fandom, whereas in the English fandom it's lost in a sea of other good stories and not a lot of people know about it and rec it, sadly. The bottom line is that since it's almost finished in French, there would be no reason for me to stop the translation, even if I don't get as many reviews in English. After all, I aim to please my readers, whether they speak French or English :-)

Chapter 28 is going to be a long lemon between Rosalie and Emmett, but Chapter 29 will be told from Carlisle's point of view but we'll see him interacting with a bunch of people, namely Jacob, Esme, Emmett, Jasper and Edward (because of course we all remember that Emmett was sent to get Edward at a very bad moment, don't we? If you don't remember, don't worry, I'll put the few last paragraphs of Bella and Edward's time together at the beginning of the chapter). We will also get into Jasper's mind again at some point to learn more about what happened to him after the episode with the dogs.

Well, coming back to this one.
After we learned some more about Jaspers and Alcie's past in the chapters before, now we learned something more about Rose.
She's a very good friend... and I really do wonder what happened to Alice, that Rose wants to protect her that much. And she also wants to protect Bella. Well, I'm not shure if she could keep her promise, not to leave Bella alone with the Volturi... we know what happende some houres after this talk, when Aro punishes her.
And I understand that she feels left in the dark. But I also understand that Bella is not ready to tell her everything. But I am shure that Rose could help bella understand Edward and also Bellas strange feelings. This talk shows that bella slowly feels something for him... something she can't understand, and I can understand why this is so strange to her.
Well, to make this short, I like Rosalie and I am shure once her two friends open up to her, she could teach them quite a lot. Hope she and Emmett will get along, even if Em is still pissed....
Waiting for the next chapter... if it takes a week or a month, I'll read it as soon as I get the alert...

No, this was not a dream. While Jasper was in a coma, he had access to old memories of his childhood when he did actually meet Alice. So right now he feels he knows her very well, but since Alice was only six, she doesn't remember the episode with the dogs. It can happen to anyone to live something traumatic when they are young and they suppress the memory and live their lives as if nothing happened to them and then something can trigger the memory back. It did happen to me anyway.
Now I know it may be confusing, that you could wonder how come Jasper didn't remember Alice when he kidnapped her on the beach? Because before his coma his memory was normal and he should have remembered the time when he was 12 so why didn't he? It will all be explained in due time :-)

Jasper's life hasn't been pleasant, he wishes he would have been anywhere but next to his father. He wants Jasper to take his place one day, while Jasper wishes for anything else. He has seen too much for his age, there's no way it wouldn't affect him. He grows up to be cruel, it's the only thing he has seen in his life. We have to feel sad for him, at least I do.

I wonder, what happend to Jasper, that he became the monster his father was, although he never ever wanted to be like this.
What happend to that poor little boy? That Chapter brings up even more questions than it answers.

Well, it seems that life got better for the female slaves, since Edward arrived and James is no longer in charge for them. Only horrible to imagine, Bella and the other girls would have met him!
And that this 12 year old boy had to see all this... well, sneaking in is not always a good choice. I understand that he likes watching the girls, and I can imagine a 16 or some year old Jasper wanking off while watching them... uhh, dirty toughts:)
but what the men did to the girls was surely horrible for him.

By now you probably realized that this story is told bit by bit and that only towards the end will we get the whole picture (the story is almost over in French since I only need to write three more chapters plus the epilogue). It's true that according to what we learn from Jasper's childhood, it makes us only wonder even more why he became as bad as his father when he grew up. It will be explained later on in the story. I'm glad you also realized that the captives are not treated as badly in present time than they were 14 years ago :-)
It always takes me 6 days to translate a chapter in French into 2 chapters in English, and I work on my translation every other week (except when there is a holiday like right now). I translated chapters 25 and 26 three weeks ago and sent them to my beta. After I send my chapters for editing, it's not up to me anymore when she gets the time to do the correction. I need her to help me improve the quality of my writing, but if I didn't need a beta, I'd post 2 new chapters every other week on a regular basis. That's what I do in French because if my other beta is not available, French being my first language I can do without a beta. I wrote to Claudia and Michelle because I wanted them to explain how I work to their German readers, but I don't know if they received my e-mail.

Sweetie it's not up to me when I update. Here's the thing: I'm on a schedule. Every other week I translate a chapter from the original story in French (one chapter in French becomes two chapters in English) and every other week I do write a new chapter in French. Last week I did translate chapters 25-26 and sent them to my beta. From then on I'm on hold, I depend on my beta. If she has time to edit chapter 25 before Christmas it's all for the better, but she's very busy and I doubt she will have time before the holidays.
I'm glad you liked this chapter.

It is amazing how quickly both have fallen for each other, while trying so desperately to hate each other. There is truly one step between love and hate. And still, they want to ignore and deny it, at least to each other. Add to it how hard they are trying to convince the other, it's amazing how they say what they do, while thinking entirely different things.
What they have, what they hope to have and what will probably happen are so different things, it's crazy and sadly there seems to be no way out for either of them.
They are clinging to what ever they can, and pretending to really not care, I hope it slips out of both or at least one. Sadly that might have to wait, Jasper has awaken, but it seems it doesn't look too good.

I don't think Edward never hated Bella, though, even if Bella did indeed loathe him. Also, one of my readers commented on the fact that too many things happen in too little time in my story, but the fact is that my story is not intended to be realistic, and if I had the action take place in one or two months instead of only one week or so like the reader suggested, the Volturi would have had plenty of time to abuse Bella and Alice, if not Rosalie (Rosalie is a tougher cookie), not to mention that it's because everything happens fast in the story that we never get bored (at least I think what I write is not boring, lol). Now, it's also true that Edward and Bella are not exactly on the same page, but close enough actually. Bella is really madly in love with Edward and so is he, but she needs a more concrete confirmation about Edward's deep feelings, and she will get it in the coming chapters, otherwise what hope would there be for those two?

Coincidentaly, I first wrote the chapter about Jasper in French (the next chapter that I will post) when Eclipse hit the theaters back at the end of June, and the only thing I liked about the movie was Japser, for that matter. So without revealing too much, one would certainly think that Alice couldn't possibly fall in love with the "old" Jasper, and that he needs indeed to have been "sweetened" somehow, lol.
