Author's Response:

Happy February 22!  I thought I'd answered all the reviews, but I was mistaken.  I still haven't got my head screwed on right after moving.  I'm trying to get organized so I can get working on that next story.  At this point I can't say when it'll be....I think my muse is still in a box somewhere.  I'm also working on some original novels I want to publish, so it might take a while.  I have not forgotten!

Another chapter full of surprises and not all of them bad, like Ghar'rett turned pink by the spritz, he, he. Rose'sdragon-breath will come in useful against the creatures lurking on the other side of the gateway. I look forward to book three and wish you happy holidays.

Author's Response:

Thanks again for reading and reviewing; so sorry it's taken me so long to respond.  I've been in the process of moving for almost a year.  I moved to Texas in April, and lived with my in-laws until the first of this month, while our new house was being built.  Finding time to write has been a challenge, but now that we're in the new house--I still can't find much time to write!  It should get better the more things come out of boxes.  I'm also hoping to get into publishing my own material--if only I could find someone to help me.  One step at a time, right?  Thanks again for R&R.

I guess as long as they have each other and plenty of magic, it will all work out okay! It surprised me that Rose transformed to protect her child as a dragon, but I suppose it shouldn't have! I'm hoping Lant'n comes with them to help with the gateway and the dragon migration. I'm like Alyss, I'll kind of miss Faen, too, it's been quite the adventure!

Author's Response:

I'd thought I'd responded to all my reviews, and then find these last few hanging around with no response--doh!  I'm gladd you liked the story and the ending, and I really appreciate you reading so far outside your comfort zone.  Now I need to get cracking on my third.  We're still unpacking after the move last month.  It took them a year to finish our house.  It'll probably take me that long just to get stuff out of boxes.

Who would have thought that the giant dragon could be put back to sleep by a lullaby? And all the peoples of Faen worked together. Alyss and J'spurr saved by a unicorn - what a reward for sacrificing themselves to save the worlds. J'syka got off easy, good luck to her new husband. And finally the wedding-night, they've been waiting so long to be able to be together, uninterrupted.

Author's Response:

I couldn't write about the land of fairies, without a little fairy magic.  Unicorns are at the pinnacle of fairy lore.  I wasn't sure how they were going to take care of the monster, but singing it to sleep was a lot better than a more violent end.  Without all the discord stirred up by the rival queens, the people were able to put their differences behind them.  Alyss and Bree insisting on everyone using magic, helped heal their two peoples.  This group is slowly dealing with damage done by the traveler.

Talk about a happy ending! It may not be the end of your story but it was a perfect end to this chapter. I loved that a unicorn saved them both and Be'lah figured out how to save Faen by getting them all to sing Gorg-emoth back to sleep! It sounds like the next leg of this magical journey is almost upon us!

Author's Response:

It's officially ending one chapter after this, but I thought they needed a little reprieve.  What would a fairy-tale be without a unicorn?  I've already had a lot of other myths and legends, so I couldn't resist.  The coming trip to the dragon realm probably won't be so magical and fantastical.

Cock-blocked by a mega-monster! Well, if that isn't a valid excuse to leave the bed. Ja'spurr made every thing so pretty, it's a shame. I really hope Be'lah will manage to put the giant worm to sleep, maybe add J'syka as a nightcap.

Author's Response:

The mega-monster is my husband's creation by a slightly different name.  He plays D&D, and Gorgomath is a dragon that's flying through the universe, eating everything.  When it gets to the last world, it chokes on it, and coughs up a new universe.  It's said sometimes you can sit at night and watch the stars go out.  As much as I wanted to write a graphic honeymoon night, I had to keep it T rated.  The ratings are a pet peeve of mine, owing to the fact that you need a complicit mind to understand an intimate scene.

I have my fingers crossed that she and Ehd Wyrd will safely gather the rest to end Gorg-hemoth before it's too late! Then they need to put a stop to J'syka's meddling for good!

Forgot to answer this, but we were in the middle of making Christmas cookies, so I was a bit distracted.  As you know by now, nothing is ever easy for this team.  I love how this story keeps me on my toes, since it keeps going off script.  Thanks again.

Too bad some aren't polite enough to leave a review, it's their loss! I'm so glad Alyss and J'spurr finally got married! I'm not silly enough to think this will end all their troubles, but at least they will face them together! I'm crossing my fingers no one gets hurt by whatever is coming through the gateway tomorrow! I'll watch for the nesxt chapter of Crimson Rose of Texas, too!

Author's Response:

A long time ago I learned to let go of my desire for reviews.  I love that some are kind enough to write, and let me know I'm not posting to a vacuum.  But at least this site lets me track how many are reading.  You have it right; this won't end their troubles, but being together is what's most important for these two.  I've been working on Crimson Rose a bit too, and it tells me I need to change my plans, since it's already so long.  It's shaping up nicely as a good prequel to the series, with a lot of explanations on how things happened.

Finally something goes as planned, a whole day without unwelcome or dangerous interruptions and finally they are married. I guess Lant'n is responsible for bringing Alyss' dad and Ja'spurr's parents to Faen. I hope that whatever comes through the gate will wait until after the wedding-night. I wonder about Kath'ryn and what kind of abilities she might have.

Author's Response:

Don't look now, but I think you spoke too soon.  Yeah, I'd love to have a nice, easy day where nothing bad happens, but the story would be twice as long if I did.  Lant'n and the Lepryns brought the family to Faen.  Baby Kath'ryn is still a puzzle.  I have plans for her, but it's going to take time.  Only a chapter or two left now.

Alyss sort of confined the evil embedded in the crown and hopefully it is not going to influence Bree. She should check the sceptre, too. She is so powerful now, all that magic turned bad would be devastating.

Author's Response:

I think Alyss convinced Bree not to wear the crown unless it's absolutely necessary.  The scepter probably has a problem too, but Alyss can handle it.  Most of her more powerful magic comes through Faen, so it won't be easy for her to subvert it, even if she wanted to.

At long last, some good news and even a bit of happiness! I'm quite sure you had Alyss make J'spurr promise to keep her from becoming like Lore'yn because that is a future possibility. , At least the fairies are reunited and they are going to fix the gateway. If they can get the dragons back home, that will be a big weight off everyone. Maybe they will all get to go home someday soon!

Author's Response:

I'm working on a wrap to Book 2, and a lot is still happening.  Then I'll probably take a little break before I start Book 3.  I still want to finish Crimson Rose, plus I'm editing two original books I want to see about getting published.  Thanks so much for your kind words and reviews.

There's still a bit more story to tell.  I can't promise a smooth ride, but the end should be worth it.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing.  I think I've got about a hundred others who are reading along in silence.  That's okay by me, but I really appreciate the comments.

Lant'n has a twisted sense of homour and I think he only tells them enough to motivate them to do their bidding. Maybe he tells them that the gateway is useless because he neeeds them to stay a little longer to accomplish something he wants done. I wonder about little Kath'ryn's magical abilities.

Author's Response:

Lant'n definitely has a twisted way of looking at things.  He knows things he wasn't able to tell while the queen was alive.  He's been working outside the boundaries, pushing the limits of the law.  Still of all the creatures of Faen, Lepryns are least bound by the law.  Baby Kath'ryn was supposed to be born back in the human realm, according to my plans.  She had other ideas.

Lant'n may be Alyss'es great uncle, but he may not necessarily be her friend, unless it suits him! I'm totally on Alyss'es side, those damn scrolls are more a curse than a help! At least Rose has had her baby and is growing stronger, so that's some comfort! Now all we need is a way topass trough the gateway and not get eaten by the weredragons!

Author's Response:

Oops, almost didn't get the update on the fourth day.  I've been a little distracted with nanowrimo.  I don't think I'm going to finish it this year.  Lant'n has an agenda, but he's not really against Alyss.  The scrolls and different prophesies are a whole lot of confusion.  Rose is getting stronger, and so is the baby.  I've still got a whole third book to write, so there's still a lot of story to tell.

Author's Response:

Once upon a time, Lore'yn wasn't an evil witch; she was a fairy who cared about her tree.  When everything is stripped away, she still cares about that tree more than anything else.  Lant'n is a fun character, with too much power for his own good.  Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Looks like Rose's child will be born in Faen after all. I'm still holding out hope for them finding the gateway!

Author's Response:

I always figured Alice/Alyss had a lot of steel in her spine.  She's come through so much in her life, and still has a sunny personality.  Alyss and Lore'yn had to have a recoking, since they both wanted J'spurr.  As to the gateways, every one of them has had a problem, and this one is no different.

Like L'oreyn wasn't bad enough to begin with, she has to be a leech on top of everything! It's just so sad that Alyss didn't finish her off when she had the chance! I hope this still has a better ending than I'm afraid it will!

Author's Response:

That she was a leech came as a surprise to me, since magic is so plentiful in Faen.  But she didn't want to use the magic of the realm, because she didn't want to be subjected to its laws.  Somewhere along the line she probably thought she was doing what's right for the city, and never realized she was becoming its worst nightare.

The other castle was fit for dragons, maybe this one is, too, and the fairies are not supposed to rule in the first place.

Author's Response:

The fairies really aren't supposed to rule in Faen--no one is.  The fairies of legend were flighty, simple, and uninterested in ruling.  They didn't build complex castles or cities; they lived in harmony with nature.  That's all changed, since the dragons came through the gateway and feasted on fairies, and the wanderer taught them how to organize and fight.

Such a clever plan and idiot fool Jasper fudged it up - or is there method to the madness and the cut-off wings will help them somehow, maybe to fool Lore'yn?

Author's Response:

In taking his crown, Lore'yn took away a lot of his ability to see her motivations.  He's only starting to realize he has it without the crown.  Forcing J'spurr to cut off her wings, is what broke the spell.  One, he knew it was Alyss who was the merciful one, not Lore'yn.  Two, it was Alyss who could command him.  Three, it dimmed the compulsion, once the quest was finished.  Four, he realized this wasn't a mercy at all.  And five, he was able to see she wasn't married, and she got a chance to tell him she loved him.

Author's Response:

I'd never say I won't kll off a character.  But I think in the words of the Wicked Witch of the West, "These things need to be done delicately."  I might have trouble writing a suicide--especially if it's a noble one.

Author's Response:

Queen Lore'yn is responsible for a lot of the "Time of Sorrow," even though she doesn't see it that way.  It's funny, bad rulers always think they're doing what's right and best for everyone.  She thinks eliminating the dark fairies is the key to fixing everything, and while she's at it she'd get rid of any fairy without wings.  They've still got to deal with the queen, and she's not going to make it easy.

I want to tell them all to be very, very careful dealing with Queen Lore'yn! This is going to be tricky, for sure and magic will be used, no doubt!

Author's Response:

Sorry again for falling behind in my responses.  The wanderer is definitely behind the problems.  Alice always struck me as the kind of person who would be forgiving of most things, so I think Alyss is able to shrug off what happened to J'spurr and what he's done.  Queen Lore'yn is a bad one, and I don't think they've grasped how bad just yet.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

Now that he has come back to his senses, I hope it's not too little, too late! By the way, really clever way to marry Bree to Prince T'lar!

Author's Response:

I like that in so-called fairy tales, there are all kinds of magic spells, disguises, and curses.  True love is usually all it takes to break a spell, but I'm a bit pickier about what constitutes true love.  It's that first glance across a crowded room; it has to go much deeper.  Like the sea witch stole Ariel's voice, Lore'yn stole J'spurr's love of Alyss.  Alyss had to prove she loved him more than the witch.

Shrinking Bree, and creating a distraction was enough to fool J'syka.  Too bad it fooled J'spurr too.

Author's Response:

Ghar'rett and J'spurr were getting to be good friends, through Alyss.  The queen is a pretty rotten egg.  Imagine all the power, no oversight, and someone who could potentially threaten and take it away.  Be'lah knows the war is over, because she saw T'lar surrender.  He was leading the army.  J'syka might have something else up her sleeve, but not likely.

There's a bit of a mystery here, but It'll all come out soon.  All the queenly raiment: the crown, the necklace, and the wand/scepter.  J'syka wanted out.  She didn't want the responsibility of rule, but she did like the power.  Thanks again for reading.

There's a lot going on in the history and behind the scenes that no one can see or understand.  The scrolls are both a warning and a point of contention.  Alyss and Be'lah have a lot to do to start fixing the problem.  There's still hope.

Author's Response:

You hit on the big issue--the wanderer.  In book three they'll have to figure out who this wanderer is, and what he's up to.  There are so many predictions, prophesy's, traps, and agendas, it's hard for them to tell what's going on, and who's behind it.

Lore'yn is the reigning fairy queen, which means she can pretty much get whatever she wants.  A grown up spoiled brat with unlimited magic at her fingertips; and J'spurr under her control, Lore'yn is what J'syka could turn into if she was left in charge.  They've all got a part to play here.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

That was a narrow escape. What a dangerous realm. Is Be'lah within the dome Ja'spurr created? I wonder what using all that Fairy-magic is going to do to him.

Author's Response:

At this point, the group is separated.  J'spurr and Ghar'rett are together, and the other four are together, while Alyss is in the castle.

I like the idea that fairly-land is a dangerous place, because it's easy to think fairy's are simple, flighty, and harmless.  Nothing here is harmless!  Reading old fairy tales, before Disney got hold of them, you can see how dangerous this fantasy realm really is.

J'spurr is overwhelmed by mnagic i9f he can want to kill and injure A'lyss! What kind of upside down spell has this fairy princess laid on him? That his crown is in a locked box can't be a good thing, either! Plus, I'm worried what has happened to the rest of the family, too! Is Rose still sick, are Be'lah and Ehd Wyrd okay? The longer they are here, the worse their situation becomes!

Author's Response:

J'spurr didn't realize he had a role to play in this drama, or he probably would have been more careful.  The fairy queen isn't someone to play with.  Disney says you can't cast a spell to make someone fall in love with you, but fairies have never heard of Disney.  I'm really enjoying this story, and I'm happy where it's going.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

This is such a dangerous place they are passing through, with everything seeming to want them dead, I'm thrilled J'spurr has suddenly aquired such powerful magic! Now there is a small chance they could get where they're going!

Author's Response:

Well, the My SQL fatal errors seem to be handled.  Now I'm hoping readers will realize this is part two of my Dragons trilogy.

When most people think of fairies, they think of flighty, tinkerbell types who flit around with nothing to worry about.  I've had fun proving that the fairy realm is a dangerous place, with serious problems and real things to fear.  Magic is power, and all that unrestrained power comes with a cost.

The prophecies are not quite what T'lar makes them out to be. He said that their people are safer, because they've been following the foretellings, but the fair- and the dark-haired fairies are at war. It's so sad to see Alyss and J'spurr suffering apart.

Author's Response:

Here there are more predictions at work than just the prophesy.  There's a set of predictions related to the thrones and lineage of the fairies, and it's got everyone mixed up.  Unfortunately, it does get worse before it gets better.  Thanks again for being so kind in reading and reviewing.

J'spurr and A'lyss are pretty much caught between a rock and a hard place, with magic thrown in for good measure! She freed her friends and her love, but stayed to keep her promise. Poor J'spurr, reliving his time with A'lyss and how they fell in love, is so guilty for leaving her behind! They all must be so disheartened! I'm hoping for some good magic to help them get back together!

Author's Response:

Thanks again for reading and reviewing.  I'm working hard to finish this story, and then there's one more of the trilogy.  At least I'm more than halfway through the three, and I know where it's leading.  It does get convoluted enough I'm tempted to put up a timeline and list of characters.

The queen was very intent on getting the travellers to the castle and T'lar is adamant he and Alyss are destined to get married. I wonder what they really want to accomplish. T'lar's info is as unreliable as any fairies.

Author's Response:

That's the problem.  Everyone is working at cross-purposes, and no one knows who to trust.  I am going to try for a four day posting schedule, and hopefully finish writing this before I catch up to myself.  I know where it's going, but it's a convoluted mess getting there.  Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Alyss' cousin is a spoiled brat - who would have thought? Prince or not I don't like T'lar and his little magical seducrtion. Is he hoping to be the new ruler beside Alyss?

Author's Response:

Alyss's cousin is absolutely a spoiled brat.  T'lar has a reason for what he's doing, but he doesn't know what he's getting into. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

I was afraid if T'lar got her away from J'spurr. he would turn loose his magic and steal her heart! Evidently, the little blonde fairy is upset to see them kissing and spilled the glass! This is really dangerous territory for our intrepid band and I hope they can get away safely!

Author's Response:

There's a lot of forces at work here, and one is the prophesy from the fairy perspective.  Everyone has an agenda, and some are noble and some are selfish.  It's hard for them to know who they can trust, or even if they can trust each other.  Thanks again!

This place is messing with everyone in some way. Rose is sick, Alyss is magically drawn to T'lar, and the queen seems to be a slob! But then, Jsyka always was kind of like that! Now that they are in the palace, I hope someone will show them the gateway!

Author's Response:

There's all sorts of magical manipulation going on here.  I've had fun pulling in the names from the original series, but the characters aren't the same.  There might be a trait or two, but I've mixed them up quite a bit.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

Whatever they are, I'm glad the tiny creatures helped our intrepid group! That monster in the sea was just nasty! There has to be a compelling reason the little guys are calling Alyss princess and guarding her from J'spurr! Can't wait to find out what they have gotten themselves into now!

Author's Response:

In a land filled with magic, even seaweed can become a monster.  All the answers are ahead in the story.  Nothing is ever as simple and easy as it seems.

That was a narrow escape. Princess-sprytz - the little fairy?

Author's Response:

It's a little difficult to understand the sprytz.  They're calling Alyss a princess.

This prophesy just keeps swirling around, changing lives. Now they are in a place that may be changing them physically! Alyss is going to have to work out a way for J'spurr to be able to touch her without being tossed away from the necklace! I'm impressed with your poetry skills, by the way! See you next time!

Author's Response:

When I read fantasy novels, prophesies bother me.  I don't know why I put this one in my story, except that those who've heard it tend to follow it like a map.  It starts to take on a life of its own.  Poetry is my nemesis.  Why use a handful of carefully chosen words, when you can use ten thousand?  I struggle with poetry, and this one gave me fits.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

The complete prophesy desn't sound very promising, the prospect of being changed by an abundance of magic is scary. At least they are together.

Author's Response:

The prophesy is one of those things thats only understandable from hindsight most of the time.  The magic of Faen is a real risk, which is one of the things that keeps outsiders away.  Thanks for reading and reviewing!
