In later chapters, I will explain that Cygnarians go through something similar to Pon Farr (or blood fever) when they are ready to conceive. Women go into a mania and cannot really function when they are in the midst of this blood fever. Bella received an injection, preventing her from having this mania for another year. She needed to focus on her family, her planet and her responsibilities. It may come up in the next chapter. i'm not sure. Thanks for reading!!

Cygnarians ~ Trills (from DS9) with pointed ears. Think Ezri Dax with long flowing hair
Alphans ~ Klingons, minus the honor
Turulians ~ Vulcans (Commander Laurent is Commander Tuvok from VOY)
